  1. We have a limited number of Windows XP computers but it is mostly a Vista environment. The WinXP users don't have this problem. It is strictly just a Vista problem. On the server side, the DHCP is a Windows 2003 server. One guy suggested to me, my problem is with Auto tuning. He said it has nothing to do with IPV6. Does anyone agree or disagree with him?
  2. I have a question about Vista intermittently losing the Internet connection. We are a school which we run the Vista computers in a domain environment. These computers DO NOT have Static IP addresses. The are assigned IP address through DHCP. Under the Network Center, when the connection is good, it will look like this: Computer >> Domain >> Internet After the intermittent lost, it looks like this: Computer >> Domain >>RED X>> Internet No matter what you do to restore the connection, it doesn't come back unless you either DISABLE the NIC card and reable OR you leave the connection alone, the connection mysteriously reconnects to the internet. The computer never loses the connection to the Domain. As far as Network settings, the computer has Network Discovery ON and File Sharing ON. Under the NIC card settings, the computer has the following checked: Client for MS Networks QoS Packet Scheduler F/P sharing IPv6 IPv4 Topology Discovery Mapper Topology Discovery Responder This intermittent lost of connection happens to anyone who is logged on either Admin, teacher, and student. It happens almost on ANY Vista computer. What is causing this problem to occur?
  3. I have a problem with Office XP SP3. I am running Windows XP SP3 and of course Office XP SP3. The original problem was when you search for a Clip Art image, it will FREEZE Word. The actual error message:"MS Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. The information you were working on might be lost. MS can try to recover it for you". There is a setting somewhere that is being remembered. Here is what I have done: 1. Uninstalled with Add/Remove Office XP, Media Content (Clip Art), and Publisher 2. Reinstalled Office XP 3. Uninstalled Office XP, Media Content, and Publisher with Revo Uninstaller 4. Reinstalled Office XP The first two, I performed under Administrator then the last two I performed under the user. Again, I removed ALL traces of Office XP using REVO Uninstaller. Office XP or Clip Art is remembering a setting somewhere on the computer. In addition to what I did above, here is other steps: 1. I deleted all traces of NORMAL.dot. Launched Word again which it recreates NORMAL.dot 2. I launched Word in SAFE MODE. 3. I ran a Anti-Malware program to scan/clean any objects. 4. I deleted MS XPS Document Writer and reinstalled this driver. Next, I set this driver as the default. 5. I logged on to the computer as myself (Administrator) which this problem follows me. Nothing above worked at all. The problem STILL exists. Ironically, I have the same problem on a completely other computer running Windows XP SP3 with Office XP SP3. I have three forums going EE, WA, and this one to try to help resolve my problem. Nobody has the solution yet.
