  1. My problem is just solved - it seems that I have downloaded the wrong version of the java sdk... installation worked without problems for me now... but maybe I have an advice for you guys. the Java Deployment Guide has the following passage about the REBOOT=Supress option: you guys said that the whole thing only happens if java is installed from the unattended cd... so maybe the setup trys to write something (temporary data?) to the cd-rom and - of course - discovers that writing to the cd is not possible. ... maybe there is an option to tell the installer to put the files somewhere else...?
  2. I try to use the J2EE 1.4 SDK - but if I use the switches given in the Java Plug-in 1.4.2 Developer Guide it always says that they are wrong. Instead I sould use "-silent <state file>" ... this is strange, because the developer guide says to use "/s /v"/qn ..."" ... but anyway, maybe someone could help in creating this state file? (I guess it's an ini-file... maybe like this??): [SETUP] ADDLOCAL=jrecore, extra IEXPLORE=1 MOZILLA=1 REBOOT=Supress what do you guys think of this strange behaviour? and where is your .msi from?? I couldn't find it anywhere? thanks for your help.
  3. nope, have no dell cd i'm sorry. but you should try to scan through txtsetup.sif for usbehci and delete all lines where that filename is in. you don't really need the usbehci driver for the text-based part of the setup, except you use an usb 2.0 drive (cdrom or hd) i cannot guarantee that, though and i don't know if it works... but it should. btw the problem doesn't seem to be the dell cd, because i did not use one and the error occured anyway. also i did not delete any patches etc before slipstreaming sp2.
  4. hmmm cannot help you guys anymore, the problem just solved itself this is what i've done: deleted the whole thing from my hd copied all the files again slipstreamed sp2 (generated an unattended install-file) created an iso file with nlite tested in vmware - installation works fine
  5. hi i think the solution is to remove the reference to the usbehci.sys file! i know, that's not the ultimate solution, and i also don't exactly know how to do it, but maybe somebody can help me work it out?? here is what i found out: the reference file for the text-based installation of windows is called txtsetup.sif and is located in the i386 folder i have scanned through the file before adding sp 2 (i also don't have sp1) and there is no reference to the usbehci file, but after adding sp 2 there are some entrys for this file... i just don't know what to remove exactly, maybe somebody with more knowledge about the syntax etc can help??
  6. jpatto, i did nearly the same as you... but i found the usbehci.sys in the sp2.cab file. this didn't work too, so forget it... is there any other solution than disabling usb in the bios??
  7. hi! i think ive got a solution... look at this: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?act=ST&f=34&t=25379 it seems that windows setup expects the file in "DRIVER.CAB" - i have checked "my" archive, the file's not there. maybe it DOES make difference wheater you slipstream sp2 to a sp1(a)-cd or not... i will try that and post my results ...
