I did try that, Chkdsk reported something was wrong, but couldn't fix it. And wasn't clear on the problem. I'll try connecting the drive via a USB adapter and run "Error-Checking" on the drive from the host system. This problem may have more to do with the update failing to install. I'll let you know what I find, at least now I know what the drvmain.sdb file is used for. Thanks

Greetings, This laptop worked fine until the KB2419632 update failed, now XP HOME SP3 won't boot Reports windows\appPatch\drvmain.sdb corrupt or missing can't boot in safe mode original CD is XP HOME SP 1a It will boot off the CD, then into "Repair mode" How can I get this machine back to it's functional state ? I've seen many issues with this hotfix in web searches, but no way to fix the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
