:thumbu Hi Guys, I really appreciate all you guys have done for me. I have learned a lot. The Slipstreaming worked fine and my new disk will now load to a hdd on this motherboard, I ran the system to a 160gb hdd and loaded in several programs and it is working fine and I will keepthe hdd as a backup for the XpPro System. I use Acronis True Home 10.0 and Acronis Disk Management 10.0 to configure all my drives and clone my operating system to a extra drive, test it as a actual clone and then leave it in the case disconnected and if I have problems I just plug in the reserve drive and reclone back to the problem drive and have both active again and again leave one as a back up. To me it the easy way to have a back up. The only problem I have found using this system is that one drive falls behind in new programs and files so to solve I, re clone once a month so my back up drive is never out of date over a month old. I have used this procedure for years and it is quite simple. My problem here was the old XP Pro would not load on this system but Xp Home Premium would load so needed the sp3 on the original disk which I now have. I do not do much with drivers other than updating from ie=Nividia Video cards, etc. You solved my problem very well and again I thank you for all the work you put into it. Thank all of you very much from a WW11, Korean Vet. Much is appreciated and well done, Merry Christmas. EdWh, short for EdWelch.

Hi S/Brat- Thanks-misunderstood the first suggestion thought could change anytime. To late now but will remember for next time. It shut me down quick I can tell you. Thanks again and Merry Christmas. You guys were a lot of help will take time to learn about AHCI. Take care.

If you changed from IDE to AHCI after you installed Windows, then it's no wonder you got an error. To have Windows set up in AHCI mode, you have to install it in AHCI along with the SATA/AHCI/RAID driver. Cheers

Hi Sbrat, Should have included you in last reply, I thought we were on two different spots on the forum. Thanks for all the help from you guys. My mistake shows my age. All you guys have a Merry Christmas and again thanks for helping all who have these kind of problems. EdWh.

From- EdWh Hi Kelvin, Ran a new compilation using Sp3 and it worked, ran to desktop and to be sure all was well, installed several programs and used the Gigabyte install cd and loaded all the drivers. All went well except for advise to use AHCI in place of IDE, shut my windows down real quick. Went back into Bios and reset to Ide, default and everything worked great. Thanks for all the help to a vet from way back and at my age things get slower bellieve me. Merry Christmas to all. Keep up the good work. EdWh

Hi Folks. Thanks for all the advise, the BIOS is set to IDE it is the default setting on this board and I always check it before starting a install. The windows cd loads the default Sata drivers from the install cd as I have watched the files being loaded and since the install sees the Sata Hdd and allows me to load the system with XP home it should do the same with XP pro. After install I load all the Sata drivers and chipset drivers even though l do not use them as one day I might wish to use raid. Will get back to you after the next try with Sp3. Thanks for all the help. And I do use Dvd/rw instead of cd/rw as they have more room and both can be erased. Thanks again. EdWh

Hi SBrat, Thanks for reply, I went to download site and it says if running in IDE mode drivers are not needed, appears they are for raid only. I do not use raid, but all this is new to me so if you can clarify would appreaciate it. Getting late now, so will have a go at it tomorrow, thanks again. Also received a reply at other site that I can use the Sp3 pack so will download that also tomorow. Thanks again. EdWH.

Hi All, from EdWh Directed here from last post by Sbrat, I just finished creating a Dvd boot disk from intergrated WinXp Pro and Sp2, (WindowsXp-KB835935-Sp2- ENU.Exe) downloaded from Microsoft. I have sp2 original disk and your nlite does not contain link to Sp2 download. I would try sp3 but last attempt without sp2 installed refused to load with note, needs at least sp1 to install. I am using a Wnxp-pro Spo- 5.1.26800.21890 English. All went well until I attempted to load on a 1 T/b Sata 6 drive and after installing all files and menu comes up that advises to furnish Sp2 disk in drive A., which of course is floppy so that is where I am at. Do not know how rest of install will go as cannot get beyond this menu. A regular install of operating disk, stops at menu that says, (Starting Windows and blue screen comes up with pci error. The error is caused by lack of files that are in the sp2 disk. I know for sure as I am writing on this machine with XP Home premium installed that includes Sp2. So need to get the Sp2 into the WinXp pro disk. I am running the new Gygabyte X58 board that includes the Sata 6 and Usb 3 ports. The Sata 6 drive runs ok. on Windows but I also have Ubuntu Linux on half the drive (Dual Boot) and for anyone wondering Linux will not run the Sata 6 drive, the kernel needs updating and since most all of Linux uses the same kernel, Linux needs to update the Kernel. I attached the wrong inf file to last post so am sending the correct one here from the preset folder. I believed that once the Sp2 files were copied and integrated Sp2 would be part of the install but the note of requiring the Sp2 disk, is a mystery to me. Can you advise what I am doing wrong??? And Sbrat asked if I had Sata drivers on cd and I do not have or know where to get them from, but assume that if I had them I could add as part of the options your program. Please advise where to download so I get put them on desktop and add to disk. Thanks a bunch and have a Merry Christmas, and for those who that offends if any, have a Merry Holiday. Mr. Welch Vet, Korean and part of ww11 European theater, I am telling my age!!! so have patience with me.

Hi Sbrat, Thanks for the reply, have found correct folder and will send with next post to forum you gave me. I do not believe Sp3 will install on here as it does not have sp1, last time I tried to run sp3 on this without sp2, it refused to install and advised needed at least sp1. Would love to do that however, but unless I know for sure it requires to much time, I do not want to load a virtual machine on here and have to test by installing. . Ed. Welch

From- EdWh I just finished inter-grading Sp-2 into a WinXP pro operating System. I have a new gigabyte Motherboard -GA-X58A-UD3R optimized for windows 7 and it will not load the original WinXP pro install disk, stops loading with PcI error which I discovered is from not having Sp2 integrated into the system. I usually run Sp2 and then Sp3 on the system after install to update but as I explained, the install stops with Pci error. I also have WnXp Home premiun with Sp2 and it installs fine so I decided to put the downloaded copy of WindowsXP-KB835935-Sp2-ENU.exe into the old system. I successfully copied the Sp-2 files into the operating system and attempted to install on a new Sata 6 - 1 terabyte drive. It attempts to install but after loading all the drivers and the menu says "starting windows" a menu comes up and asks for the original Sp2 Microsoft disk which I have but the menu says to put it into DRIVE A: the floppy drive which of course being a cd I can not do. I have no way of knowing of what the loading will do at this point as I cannot get past the floppy Sp2 request. The Sp2 files were copied and integrated into the Iso before I burned it with Nero to a Dvd. I used a Dvd to make sure I had enough room. What am I doing wrong?? I thought it would just load as the WindowsXP Home loaded. By the way I am writing this on the XP home machine with the gigabyte board and Sata 6 drives. I might mention here that I am running the sata 6 on sata 3 as I have a dual boot operating system with Ubuntu linux on one half and WinXp on the other. I am attaching hereto a copy of the inf files for the last successful intergration. For info for all others Ubuntu Linux will not run a Sata 6 drive the Kernal appears not to be update as yet. nlite.iniYour reply will be greatly appreciated I am new to this forum so would like to say hello to everyone and a Merry Christmas. Looks like a great help to all of us. I am not a dos guru but can follow systax that is complete and whether to use windows run command or bring up the dos prompt. Mr. Welch
