Dude, just format that s***, you need a clean installation and then see, back up allyour data.
It'll take you ages to get all the spyware and viruses out, once formatted, use a good AV, I recommend Kaspersky Personal 5, norton or macafee for that matter Nod32 are all crap.
right i've taken your advice and formatted and clean install even though i didn't want to but i suppose it's the only way to fix this problem
The internet is now working but i have a new problem
Whenever i connect to the internet the moment i connect an error message comes up saying
16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem
C:\WINDOWS\System32\Audiodev.exe
The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction
CS:cbcc IP:83a1 OP:ff ff 1f ff ff Choose 'Close' to terminate the applicationbut the internet is fine but the message is annoying because if i press close or ignore the message reappears again and it's an always on top message
so what do i do to get rid of it?

another net problem but luckily it's not happening to me
after turning on his pc one morning zonealarm (his firewall) came up with an error something like
invaid dll vsinit.dll
and zonealarm won't start up or even uninstall and now this error is causing it to block the entire internet!
e.g the "2 flashing computers" icon is showing bytes being sent but none coming back?

Its a matter of personal preference to use which tool you want for theming, boot-screen, etc. Most of such apps are discussed here, searching would help.
About solving the slowness, try ending the process (see in task manager) which is eating up all the CPU cycles. Also, see if uninstalling object desktop brings your CPU usage back to normal - if so, then you know that the problem is caused by object desktop.
thanks after looking i found out that it was my camaera software was having issues with object desktop which is why i had high cpu usage, all i've got to do is end task my camera software and my PC becomes normal speed

I've just done an antivirus scan on the symantec site and it says i've got 4 versions of the spybot virus, i'm confused as to why my antivirus software isn't picking it up
but
1. Could this be the reason why i'm getting this error
2. How do i get rid of it if my Antivirus software won't pick it up? I've looked for a removal tool but found none

Right after lots of searching i am using object destop and using the theme airwalk which i like but i have 1 problem
If i log off or shut down my computer if i restart it or log back on it's using the windows classic theme? Which means i have to apply the airwalk theme each time i start up? How do i get it to use the airwalk theme when it starts up?
**EDIT** - My computer is as slow as a snail now i've installed object destop and used airwalk as a theme my cpu usage is 100% non-stop and on one of my games gp4 - the po% used to be about 80 now it's about 3750?!?!?!?!?!

@ pthomas
After ages of trying to download that file due to my net problem i've finally got it i've done what you've said, it works and i was on the internet for 5 hours without the problem happening so it's software related and to do with windows

After looking through these threads i've decided that i want to update my themes, logon screens and boot screens but there is one problem...i don't have the first idea what to do.
Themes - I used to use themeXP when i did this a while ago but that was very unstable on my pc, where can i get some good themes and a program which i can rely on
Logon Screens - Is there a safe program to do this because in my past experiences i've had to replace the .exe file (don't know the name) and that was always dangerous, and where can i get some logon screens compatible with SP2
Boot Up Screens - Again is there a safe program to do this as the last (and first) time i tried it caused my xp to crash whenever it was ment to show the boot up image (managed to fix this via safe mode). After looking around this forum i found a program called Boot-Image Configuration
1. Is that a good program
2. How do i return to the default boot up image if i ever need to
3. How do i update the boot-images with that.
And where can i get some boot up screens which are compatiable with SP2
Thanks In Advance

You never did mention if you had the modem plugged into a surge protector via the phone cord?
well no but it's plugged into a microfilter (for Broadband)

Sounds like your modem is freezing up if you have to reboot to get it alive again. I'd probably be worth it to swap it out since modems are cheap. Do you use a surge protector on the modem line?
When I was working at BB as a PC tech, we saw all sorts of weird modem s*** that was cuased by the modem taking power surge hits over the course of a few weeks/months. Swapping in a new modem almost always helped quite a bit.
What's the OS, browser version, modem type....ect? When was the last time you ran windows updates?
Paul
my OS is Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2
I tend to use Opera as my browser but i have tried on all browsers and problem happens on all of them but anyway IE 6, MF 1.0 and Opera 7.54 (all up to date)
Modem is a BT Voyager 1000 USB-ADSL Modem
And i ran windows update yesturday so i'm up to date
i would like to note that when i installed SP2 the problem became worse

Internet Problem "Connection Closed By Remote Server" - After about 15-20+mins of surfing on the net my browser will pop-up with an error message saying
Connection closed by remote serverand i can't access any web pages unless i refresh the webpage lots of times and very quickly it will finally load up the webpage but no images will load up and the site will look very basic, when this happens i am still connected to the internet as the icon with the 2 flashing computers is still there, the only way to get the net to work again is to reboot my computer and i can access the net again but still after 15-20+mins the problem happens again, why is this happening?
As anybody got any ideas as to why this is happening as this is really driving my insane

try downloading sp2 from download.microsoft.com and see if that fixes the problem
when i try to download it that way i cant, there isn't a link it just says go onto windows update to get it but i cant as it isn't working.
The only one i can see that i can download is sp2 for IT professionals to install over a network but i haven't got a network but would that change anything?

When I try to get onto Windows Update (v5) it gets to the screen saying:
"Checking for the latest version of the Windows Update software...
Depending on your connection speed, this might take a minute. During this time, you may receive one or more security warnings. Review each security warning to ensure that the content is signed by Microsoft, and then click Install or Yes to install the software."
And it doesn't do anything it just stops at that screen, no security warnings come up and nothing happens (i've left my computer at this stage for 3hrs and nothing has happened) which means i can't install any windows updates. I've tried Automatic Update but that doesn't do much either. I really want to get this sorted as i have recently reinstalled XP due to a hacker deleting NTLDR which means i have no windows updates installed at all, and also because i want to install SP2 as it sounds good,
Thanks

try stinger from mcafee as it got rid of the virus for me
also if you're scanning for viruses and the message comes up (i think) if you go
start > run and type in "shutdown -S"(or something like that) it will go away for now
