  1. Hi myselfidem thanks for your support one more time! I really appreciate your dedication to help other people! Thanks..

I`m going to make my cd again because I did everything and WPI closes without install anything. Maybe is something I removed with nlite that I don`t remember.

What is safe to remove in nlite?

What should I keep in the cd to make WPI install proper?

I don`t remember that nlite creates the cmdlines.txt

    With Regards.

  2. Hi Friends!!

Well.. what can I say? I really don`t know what is happening on my WPI.

I check what you say myselfidem about updates, I made my CD again and nothing happens.

I can make WPI start after windows installation but I doesn`t install..

To be honest.... I don`t know what to do.

    With regards.

    Hello nanitoboy!

It appens to me sometimes when I've used $OEM$ (with RunWPI.exe and cmdlines.txt) folders with WPI folders not matching - different version!!

As kelsenellenelvian suggest you: download the latest WPI 8.1.0!

And set inside $OEM$ the files "RunWPI.inf" and "cmdlines.txt"

Maybe your Antivirus Norton Security or other Antivirus delete the file RunWPI.exe? It appens to me with NIS 2010!!

Disconnect to the Internet and desactivate your Antivirus, and check if inside your $OEM$, RunWPI.exe is inside, and after you can burn your DVD! If you want to keep the old WPI version.

    Don't append - in my case - with WPI 8.1.0 (with RunWPI.inf)!

Don't use WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe, because don't work for Windows XP SP3. You can integrate successfuly WindowsXP-KB942288-v3-x86.exe

Windows Installer 4.5 Redistributable - Español with nLite!

Could you send as attachment your "cmdlines.txt", please?

    Regards

    Hi again myselfidem!

Ok im going to integrate the new version of windows installer

Now that I was thinking about what I did with nlite I remember in the components section I selected to remove "Framework option" because I was thinking to install it later.

    Could it be?

Maybe is something that I remove in the CD with nlite.

    I send the cmdlines.txt

    With regards

    cmdlines.txt

  3. Tips:

Check disk structure. WPI, i386 and $oem$ must all be on the same level! At the disk root.

cmdlines.txt and runwpi.exe or runwpi.inf must be in the oem folder.

Make sure wpi.exe is at path %root%\wpi\wpi.exe

if it still doesn't run after install run it manually and post the resulting log file here. (can be found on your sys drive)

What else are you adding to\removing from your disk? (attach your last_session file here please)

    Hi!

I suppoust you refer to nlite last session file.

I attach images of my CD in a word document.

    sessions.rar

    My CD photos.doc

  4. Check if you have set the files inside the correct folders!

    1) "cmdlines.txt" and "RunWPI.inf" inside $OEM$, for Windows XP with WPI 8.1.0 version!

    2) Set the line for launch WPI at the end of "cmdlines.txt"!

    [Commands]

    "rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection nLite.inf,U"

    "hidecon.exe /w DTC.cmd"

    "hidecon.exe /w SpyMS.cmd"

    -----------------------

    "hidecon.exe /w PF.CMD"

    "hidecon.exe /w support.bat"

    "hidecon.exe /w valueadd.bat"

    "rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection RunWPI.inf,,1,N"

I've put my old "config.js" (WPI 7.2 version) inside the folder "WPI" and it was updated and saved as "config-orig.js" inside the folder "WPIScripts" with WPI 8.1.0

I've made an test and all is fine for me!!

    Regards

    Hi!

I have the files in the correct folders except RunWPI.Inf that it doesn`t exists in my cd. The File I have is RunWPI.exe official launcher.

The WPI starts after windows installation the thing is that when I select to install predefine programs WPI closes leaving the OS configure IE and others.

The real problem is that it doesn`t want to install

    With regards.

  5. Hello!

See inside the folder "I386" the file: IEXPLORER.EX_

You can safely integrate IE7 with nLite!!

You can use this reg file to use the options "Expand" or "makecab" on right click!

    CabExp.reg

    REGEDIT4

    ;Add Expand to right click
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\Expandit\command]
    @="expand -r \"%1\""

    ;Add MAKECAB to right click
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\MAKECAB\command]
    @="\"makecab.exe\" \"%1\""

Internet Explorer will be installed when Windows XP is installed!

    To use Silent NET Maker

    Regards

    Hello again.

Well, My progress is that I integrate IE7 with nlite and it worked just fine...

    But....

It still doesn`t want to install. The million dollar question is why? There must be something wrong.

I was thinking that maybe it fails because WPI starts before the desktop loads.

What do you think about that?

    What else should I make?

    Thanks for the support.

    With regards

  6. Hello!

Internet Explorer 6 is include with Windows XP RTM!

You can upgrade to IE7 with nLite, works fine...but for IE8 is more difficult. I know there is a workaround!

You can use search inside MSFN forum:

    found help here:

But you need to choose IE7 or IE8 for your current language!

    Regards

So I don`t get it. Why then? If the XP RTM contains IE6 and I have updated it to SP3 why it doesn`t start?

Maybe it`s the NET Framework that should be installed first?

If is correct how I should integrate NETFX in nlite -I suppouse- To have it installed before WPI Run after windows installation?

    Regards

  7. Please remember that WPI is not free for corporate or buisness use.

As to the not installing anything have you modified your source at all? (The OS?)

WPI only has 1 real requirement. IE6 and later.

I don`t use WPI for a corporation, I`m not one and I don`t make business with it. I`m only a small technician with the purpouse to have a tool to win some time installing programs. That`s all!

How do I modified the source?

I used Nlite with a XP RTM and I add SP3 and updates..

So the question become How should I add IE 6 or IE8 to the source?

    With regards.

  8. Hi myselfidem!

Yes I already copy the file to WPI (8.1.0)

    I explain you about office:

I work repairing computers, and I made WPI with multiples choices because not all my clients uses the same software, ones uses office 2003 and others office 2007.

It wasn`t my intention to install them togheter.

The idea was to crate a WPI with multiples choices even inside WPI I configured only MS Office 2007 as predefined.

    Thanks for your help.

Im going to test the new file with the new WPI.

    With Regards

  9. OK Couple of things:

#1 RunWPI.exe does NOT work with the hta file anymore. (AS you have found out)

#2 WPI has gone through HUNDREDS of changes since the version you are using.

#3 I would really prefer if you updated and used the newer version.

#4 Please attach your Current config.js file and I will bring it to current standards for you.

#5 If your a seriously wanting to stick with the older version I will give you a run solution.

EDIT = Found your config from an earlier post! I have updated it for your uses..

    Hello Kelsenellenelvian!!

Thanks to submit your tips and thanks for the file.

Is not my priority to stick with an older version it`s just the version I already did my WPI.

I tried to migrate to the new version by I have problems to configure because it doesn`t allow me to configure it I don`t know why yet.

I`m going to take a look into the file you attached..

    Thanks again! I really apreciated.

    With Regards

  10. Hello nanitoboy!

No it's correct! The older versions working with WPI.hta inside WPI path; and RunWPI.exe inside the folder $OEM$.

It's now different for the latest version. Read carefully the instructions for the installation with Windows XP!

    Regards

    Hi again Myselfidem!

ok! I those that it has something to do with the executable extension. So the RunWPI.exe official launcher should work even with version with .hta

I had downloaded the latest version of WPI (8.1) and I have troubles to configure the applications. It doesn`t allow me to configure I don`t know why.

    With Regards.

  11. Hello!

Don't worry nanitoboy about your English, mine isn't so good!

If you need to activate the buttons, you must open the script:"useroptions.js" and write:true

    ShowToolTips=true;

    ShowExtraButtons=true;

DoNotShowIfCD=true; (maybe for your version the text is different!)

    ---------------------------------------

You must set your folders like this:

CDXP (example:name of the folder where is located your Windows XP)

    inside:

    $OEM$

    DOCS

    SETUP.EXE

    I386

    SUPPORT

    VALUEADD

    WPI

    SETUP.EXE

    BOOTFONT.BIN

    cmpnents

    AUTORUN.INF

    WIN51

    WIN51IP

    WIN51IP.SP2

    WIN51IP.SP3

    And inside $OEM$

    Set "cmdlines.txt" and "RunWPI.exe"

    ------------------------------------------

Applications needs .NET Frameworks installed first!

Sometimes .NET Framework 1.1 is also riquiered!

To do an silent install for the .NET Frameworks you can find some help here:

    Silent NET Maker

I've tried many time and works fine!

    -------------------------------------------

Maybe the problem is you are using WPI 6.5.1 with WPI Scripts for another version!? Check!

The order is important and figure follow, it's better (1,2,3,4,5,6,etc.)!

Maybe you can use the release WPI 8.1.0, but read the description for Windows XP for correct install!

    Regards

Myselfidem thanks again man for giving me a hand on this.. I really appreciated!

Ok! I`m going to follow your tips and make a new WPI making the correct arrangements.

I will let you know about my progress...

    Thanks again my friend..

    With Regards.

  12. Hello myselfidem!! thanks for your support.

Ok, I attach my file of WPI.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks again.

    With Regards

    Thanks!

    1) Don't add spaces inside the name of your folders:"CodecPacks y reproductores"!;"Windows Installer 3.1",etc.

    2) Check the order: the order isn't good: missing:2 and 3!

    3) You can't install "Office 2003" with "Office 2007". You will get errors!

    4) You can rename the files, with short names (example): "Combined-Community-Codec-Pack-2009-09-09.exe" like this:"CCCP.exe"

    4) Install "Kaspersky Antivirus" at last

You can see sample config here:

    Sample config WPI

I hope that will help you!

    Asta la vista

    Hey thanks again my friend.

Ok I`m going to check the configuration on WPI.

    1- I didn`t know about spaces.. Sorry!

2- The order isn`t good because I remove some programs when WPI was already finished.

3- I`m going to short up the names of the programs

    PROBLEMS:

    - I tried runwpi after windows installation... didn`t work again. I don`t know what to do about that

    - When i finish the installation and WPI didn`t run, I try to run it from the CD like other folder but didn`t wanted to install. The program ended like I told you before.

    - I hide the options inside WPI selecting "HIDE EXTRA BUTTONS and HIDE FROM CD/DVD" now: How can I configure it again? How do I show the buttons again?

By the way thanks for the tip of virtualbox is a lot more faster than virtual PC.

Thanks again myselfidem and sorry if my english isn`t so good I`m from Argentina :)

    Thanks!

  13. Hi again!

I think I have a problem with WPI.

I use Virtual PC 2007 to install my unnatended CD.

    The Problem is:

Once inside windows and launch WPI the program starts but it doesn`t install anything.. What`s wrong?

I put the program to install predefine programs but suddenly closes without making its work.

    What could it be?

    Thanks again.

    With regards.

  14. Hi everyone!! Nice to meet you.

I`m here because i have a problem doing my unnatended windows CD

I had ended everything even WPI.

But I can`t make it work.

    Questions:

    - How can I run WPI after windows installation from CD?

I don`t want to copy it to Hard disk.

    - Where I should put the WPI folder in the CD?

    - How do I call it? In the Winnt.sif file or cmdlines.txt?

Please I need a hand to end my cd.

Just in case I have the WPI version 6.5.1 and the Cd I`m doing is for Windows XP

    With Regards.
