  1. Ok, here's my problem. I have two computers (I will refer to them as A and B in this topic). A is running Windows 7 Starter, and B is running Windows XP Professional SP3. I was able to successfully set permissions and credentials on B so that on A or any other computer you will have to enter an administrator's username or password to access it's shared files. It loads and operates just fine on A. But now, I want to share A's files to B and B won't open them. It won't ask for my credentials, so A assumes I'm logging on under my account on B, which does not have administrator privileges on A. This is probably a really stupid question, but how would I get B to ask me for my A credentials?
  2. One of the main reasons it takes forever to show those thousands of files is because it has to check them ALL for icons. Another determining factor is your processor speed, or as mentioned earlier, how many programs you have installed and running. I suppose there is a way to stop it from loading all of the icons, which should help it a little bit, I'll post it if I find it. Hope this helps EDIT: Sorry, Kmuland. I did not see your post. So, as he said: dont show icons: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics] "Shell Icon BPP"="0" "Shell Icon Size"="0" "Shell Small Icon Size"="0" kill explorer.exe and reload
  3. Okay, so if Windows knows about them could I make use of them by making them install? I'm sure there's some entry to add to WINNT.SIF or some patch. (Sorry for the triple post, my browser was being retarded)

  6. Hello everyone! I'm coolsites100. I am very interested in computers and software, and I love this site so far. I found this site searching Google for Windows XP Unattended Setup solutions and found the perfect, all-in-one place to do that and so much more. Since then, I have used MSFN and loved it. I hope to be helpful to others and be helped from others as I need it. Thanks! -coolsites100
  7. I am trying to make a minimal sized XP install CD, and I was going through expanding all the WAVs in the I386 directory. There I found the Utopia sound scheme, which I thought was funny because it never copies over so it's pointless . I just wanted to know if it was safe to remove them since they are not used, or if there's a way to make it so they do copy over. Also, please tell me any other files that are safe to delete that you know of. Thanks in advance -coolsites100
