  1. God gents I'm late as hell but I scored myself a 6800 Ultra for a measly $26! Nice 3d benchmark scores but maybe some stabilty issues? I've had 1 gig of ram in my machine, beginning to think it's mucked about with the OS. I've started a new job and the moolah ain't bad, might check out that ram patch rloew sells?

For one brief gloriously anachronistic moment I had Oblivion running with a TI4200 (used dx8.1 shaders), am hoping to get even better frame rates with the Ultra and tonnes O ram!

    Why? Because it's there.

  2. y not grab a cheap 9800XT?

The 9800 is certainly on my shortlist but I've put in a bid for a 6800gt on ebay and earmarked some others including an x800. The 6800gt seems to be a higher preformance card than the 9800 and can also be flashed up to an ultra if you want to mess about with floppies ;)

  3. It's interesting that the omega drivers seem to indicate that they support hd2k and hd3k in win98? I have an agp hd2600 but it's 512meg and I think is causing some issues? It appears as a pci card in my device manager. The omega drivers give me a cannot find driver inf when I try run it.

Latest ATI Omega Driver for Win98 is a modified Catalyst 4.2, so it won't support HD2K and HD3K.

I thought as much but when I saw that page and cards supported I hoped for the best. Back to the ti4200.

  4. Just picked up a copy of WIN98SE and an old p4 for $5! Thought I'd play around with it and was delighted to see the amount of online life this old system still has:)

    Anyway,

I'll be looking to pick up a more compatible agp card if all hope is lost getting this one running, my current ti4200 is struggling with some newer titles.
