  1. Here is the result, however I'm not really certain I used the program correctly-I was a bit confused about how to do it. WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3-x86-ENU.exe 3a85de42bec266e4eb8a717d474b3864 It doesn't match what you posted, perhaps if you could give me a few pointers on how to properly use the program I could make sure I'm doing it right. +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ FileVerifier++ v0.6.3.5830 (g++.exe (4.3.3-tdm-1 mingw32) 4.3.3) +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ Starting FileVerifier++ [v0.6.3.5830] Loading module: C:\Program Files\FileVerifier++\Modules\crc.dll Loading module: C:\Program Files\FileVerifier++\Modules\md.dll Loading module: C:\Program Files\FileVerifier++\Modules\rmd.dll Loading module: C:\Program Files\FileVerifier++\Modules\sha.dll Loading module: C:\Program Files\FileVerifier++\Modules\whirlpool.dll ============== Loading Results ============== Loading file: V:\XP SP-3 Install\WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3-x86-ENU.md5 WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3-x86-ENU.md5: MD5 checksums generated by MD5summer (http://www.md5summer.org) WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3-x86-ENU.md5: Generated 3/27/2011 7:53:08 AM Successfully loaded results from file. Edit: Just tried another MS Win XP SP-2 CD, and it failed as well, at the same point. There must be something wrong with the SP-3 download, but I'm going to the link that was referenced, plus I also tried looking for SP-3 "manually" on the MS site, and it took me to the same page. Second Edit: Downloaded SP-3 (again) from the same site, but this time the Nlite extraction worked ok! Don't know what the problem was; I had downloaded it 3 times yesterday (after deleting the previous one), and each time it failed to complete the extraction. Made the disc ok, so "all's well that ends well", I guess. Thanks for the suggestions.
  2. That's the file I downloaded, from that location (3 times)
  3. I'm using an XP SP-2 OEM disk and Nlite 1.4.9.1 and am trying to slipstream SP-3 in to it. When it gets to the part where it is slipstreaming the service pack, it starts, runs thru some files, starts again and stops with an error: Extraction Failed, File is corrupt. It always seems to stop on the same file from the I386 directory: I386\earl.ac_ I've tried both pointing the Nlite setup to the install CD and I've tried first copying the install cd to a folder, but it made no difference. The install CD always seems to work fine when I use it to install XP SP-2, so I don't think there's anything wrong with the disk. (It's a genuine MS install CD) Is there something else I can try? Thank you.
  4. Found Solution! For XP: http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/21/1/Start-Menu-pops-up-at-every-logon-and-the-Most-Frequently-Used-programs-list-is-reset-everytime.html For Vista: http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/163/1/Frequently-Used-Programs-list-is-reset-to-defaults-during-every-logon-in-Windows-Vista.html I should add that although the article's title indicates that the Start Menu pops up at logon AND the MFU list is reset to defaults, in my case only the MFU list was being reset. However, the solution worked perfectly for me.
  5. Fresh install of XP Home: On Boot Up, the Start Menu's MFU (Most Frequently Used) list ALWAYS shows the same list of default programs, even if I remove them and they are replaced with programs that I've opened and used. On Next boot, the "fresh install" MS programs are listed again! The 5 "default" programs that show up on the list are: MSN Windows Media Player Windows Messenger Tour Windows XP File & Settings Transfer Wizard These 5 programs are the ones that are listed any time you do a fresh install, but normally, they get replaced as you use the PC and open other programs. I've tried "Clearing" the list; manually deleting them one at a time; using enough programs to replace them all; changing the number of programs that can be displayed, etc, but on the next reboot (or Log Off & On) they alays come back! How can I correct this situation? Thank you.
