Hi, I've looked at all the similar threads, but my question is maybe SO obvious that it is overlooked in its simplicity. This is for AHCI (not RAID) on XP 64 on a GA-MA78GM-S2H rev 1.1. A big 109.90 MB one to handle chipset, VGA, and SATA RAID; as well as a little 0.33 MB one for just SATA RAID. Maybe Gigabyte intends the smaller file for F6 floppy installation. I'd prefer to slipstream my AHCI files, but really I would like to know both methods. I DO have a good old-fashioned internal FDD on the system I built myself. I have one PATA HDD, 3 SATA HDDs, and 2 SATA DVDs. I prefer to run everything on AHCI, without anything in SATA-as-IDE mode. But, having downloaded the files and opened up their zips, and despite having read through myriad descriptions of .SYS, .INF, TXTSETUP.OEM, and all the rest, I really still do not know PRECISELY which files I need to steer nLite toward (or, alternatively, copy onto a floppy disk). The bigger folder unzips into about half a dozen files, a couple of .CABs, and another half dozen folders. Altogether it includes some 233 files in 48 folders. And yet that big folder does seem like a rather convenient way to nLite the system—everything would be correct and up to date (I assume). Very nice. I am better at learning backwards. If someone feels like showing me exactly which of those files I need for my AHCI (but not RAID) XP 64 system, I will be able to study the prescribed choice(s) and come to an understanding of the logic. (Um, sort of like looking the answer up in the back of the book first, and then working out why.) Mainly I'd like to know my crucial files for nLite. Secondarily I'd like to know: —Is one functioning AHCI driver as good as any other? That is, if the system works in AHCI, do you necessarily have the best possible driver? Or will the system work better or worse according to better or worse choices of functioning drivers? Or is it just yes or no?—if it works, it's the right driver? Thanks a lot.
