  1. Hello. I am working on this Compaq C700 and when the battery is in place,

on boot it displays 4 screens on each side of the display with a

bar about 1-1/2 inches wide separating the 2 sides. In order to

resolve this problem you have to shut down the machine and pull the battery

and hold the power button down for 1 minute. That fix worked as long as the

battery is not in the machine.. Fires up fine without the battery. Also tried

Hooking an external monitor up to it. Worked fine but now the laptop display

shows the 4 screens all the time even without the battery in place..

Sometimes it does and sometime it doesnt. There really is no ryme or reasone

for the way it is acting except that something is going out.

At first i thought it was just a bad battery... That doesnt seem to be the problem.

I was also going to see if maybe it is a bad battery driver, but i cant do that without knowing what the last 2 and 3 numbers mean at the end of the machines model no. There seem to be a couple of numbers at the end there that are no where on the machine or in the Bios..

There are about 5 different 2 digit numbers at the end of my machine Model,

The other problem may be with the inverter. but i need to know if it is a software issue first.

And if it is worth tearing it down to get to that.

Also i upgraded all of the device drivers throughout... Using DriverPackSolution

The last thing the person was doing on the PC PC was playing a couple of games.

    1. Lost Inca Prophecy

    2. 4 Elements

Also did a recovery from the recovery partition that came from the factory...

    To no avail...

I would say that i am a mid level tech.

Is there anyone that can help me with this particular problem. Your help would be greatly

    appreciated...

    Thank you...!

  3. It sounds like a virus related problem... Try taking the hard drive out

and put it in a running machine, make sure its jumped right and run it

as a secondary drive and use your antivirus prgram to do an isolated

scan on just that hard drive... usually that will take care of at least

the virus problems you are having on that drive...

    I hope that helps ...LittleRed

  4. I use "Ausogics Disk Defrag" as defragmenter. Some time I stop defragmenting or my pc is turned off automatically in the time of defragmenting if electricity is gone. So I start defragmenting next start up. After finishing defragmenting windows shows a massage "Windows will restart by 10 seconds" with option Ok/Cancel and after 10 seconds pc take restart. But after booting windows shows only bootskin for 3/4 seconds and takes restart again. Windows doesnot open any more. I've faced this problem many times. What can I do? Please help.
