Hi, I have a problem with XP and the screen resolution, it goes as follows: I wanted to install XP SP2 and got an error message that it couldn't be done due to a replaced kernel file problem in the boot process. Fine, I thought, and rebooted and tried my other XP start configuration (only /fastdetect) - however this gave me an error that a file needed was corrupted. So I tried to reboot back with the old config, which has always worked - but now when XP has started it is stuck with a screen res of 800x600 and only 4bit colours... The screen res can't be changed at all any longer... I've tried starting it up in safe mode (where it actually works changing screen res!), reinstall my video drivers, do a system restore ... but I just keep getting the 800x600 and 16 colours. Sure enough, I can do "Enable VGA Mode" in the F8-induced start-up mode which takes care of the colours, but not the screen resolution. Anyone have any ideas how to go about this problem? I know the video card still works ... boot screen looks fine and it works in safe mode, it's just that XP has decided that it doesn't... Thanks in advance, /Martscape
