  1. Thank you X snd John
  2. Catsado you were exactly right here is what worked for me. Used Windows update downloader to find and download updates for XPSP3. I removed anything pertaining to media player and IE 8 from the folder. Used Nlite to integrate SP3 and the 48 updates into a clean copy of XP Pro RTM. Made the ISO and it installed without problems. I used Belarc Advisor to check the update status and it found 5 more security updates. As a test I repeated the above process and added the 5 updates and the install again went perfectly. I did try the RyanVM pack I used a current one dated 12/9/09 which had the basic security updates and some extras. I used Nlite to integrate SP3 and the RVM Integrator for the pack but there were multiple file copy errors during the install set up. I repeated the process with the same result. Also the ISO image was over 870MB in size. Obviously there is a learning curve with that method. The bottom line is I have a working copy with 99% of the updates integrated. Great forum!
  3. OK I started with a clean copy of XP Pro (no sp) I selected service pack (sp3) and hot fix (50 post sp3 updates) integration in Nlite and did it in 1 session. There were 2 failed integrations 960803 and 971961. When I installed on Virtual Box the hang problem repeated. The Last Session.ini is attached. Last_Session.ini
  4. I read that I must have XP SP1a or higher to integrate SP3 I have a version with no sevice packs so should I add SP2 and SP3? The infromation source was here:https://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.windowsxp.setup_deployment&tid=bc5bc030-062b-4c53-bc94-93c3c7b2f2e4&cat=en_US_537bfaf9-be75-4581-b553-7940b030cc77〈=en&cr=US&sloc=&p=1
  5. You are right I did 2 sessions with Nlite 1 for the service pack and 1 for the 50 updates. This may very well be where I went wrong let me try integrating all at the same time and see how it goes. Can you tell me how to locate the Last Session.ini file just in case? Thanks!
  6. I used NLite to integrate SP3 into XP Pro SP2 then made the ISO with CdimageGUI. It installed without a problem using Virtual Box. I then used Belac Advisor to find the needed security updates there were 50 to be added. I integrated the 50 updates into XP Pro SP-3 and made the ISO. Using Virtual Box again I did a format and install. The install went well but at restarted it hung on the Windows XP logo. After waiting 10 minutes I shut the virtual machine down and tried starting it up again. It stared up fine and restarted several times after without a problem. However absent when I shut down and restarted was a window for adding user names and another that checks internet connectivity and one to register Windows (if there is a connection to the internet). I tested the same XP Pro SP-3 on Microsoft Virtual Machine with the same result hanging after restart. It is somehow related the second update integration but I have no idea how to determine which update may be causing this issue. Has anyone had this happen and found a solution?
