  1. Thanks again. Tried opening Services.msc in Notepad and Wordpad and still can't get the file to come up in the original format. I will try googling how to open msc files. Thanks Danbarr
  2. Thanks for the info. That copies the file but does not keep the file in the original format. It's a jumble of words. There is a way and can be done in a couple of steps. I have done it with Word or Wordpad. Just can't remember the steps. Thanks again Danbarr
  3. Using XP Home./ Office 2000 I have tweaked my Services.msc and would like to save my changes in the original column format to Word. I was able to do this a while back but can't find the info online again. On one post I found this " Sorted it out thx. easy when u know how. i xported the list to wordpad in original format." but I need to find how how to do this. Thanks, Danbarr
  4. I finally got Fainstaller to run by changing the compatability mode to windows 2000. (I’m XP) Simple fix. Complicated find. Thanks for everybody’s help. Getting the game is OK but solving the “getting the game” problem is just as satisfying. Thanks for everybody’s help!
  5. I am running XP. Does CHECKSPCRIPT.EXE come with install download or is it an XP file? Can't find it using my search function.
  6. OS XP / Trying to upgrade to FighterAce 4.2. Problem is when I run the new FAinstaller it all goes well until the download progress meter appears and an ERROR window pops up saying "CHECKSCRIPT IS MISSING" and "MAKE SURE THIS PROGRAM CAN WRITE FROM THE DIRECTORY IT IS RUNNING FROM”. Prior to download Firewall and antivirus were totally disabled and popups to the download site are allowed. I downloaded FAinstall to another directory and got the same results. I booted to SAFE MODE and tried running FAinstall there with exactly the same results. What is CHECKSCRIPT!!?. There little to no information on MSN, Google or Yahoo (unbelievable). Anybody got an idea? Thanks Danbarr
  7. I recently used my XP start up disc to repair my OS. (It worked!) While in the repair process I was prompted for my registration number which I inputed. The next day I got a window on startup that says that I MUST reregister my software online within 3 days because my hardware had changed significantly since the last loadup. It also said that if I did not register my XP software online within 3 days then my XP software would become inoperative. First of all my hardware has not changed significantly since the last formatting. Secondly, what if I was not online. Would I still be asked to reregister online? What about this threat to deactivate my XP OS? Is this a virus trying something nefarious? At this time there is an icon on my toolbar that looks like a pair of keys that. when clicked, prompts me to register my software. Anybody got some info on this veiled threat? Thanks Danbarr
