i just got xp power point and when i go to install it says this system is not presently setup to run this application...how do i set it up??? anyone know please help..

ok thanks again to all who use this forum...i swapped and did a reformat and it didnt go to bad..im writing from one of the comps..thanks again all...well until my next question..

i have a 667mhz comp with a 80 gb hard drive and a 1700mhz comp with a 20gb hard drive..how much of a hassle would it be to swap them..( hard drives )..total reformat??..please let me know if it would be a hard process ...thank you

ok it worked great..i used the fileshare pro but now my only problem is i have 3 comps and am running through a ipaq router and it tells me the router ip and no one can connect...but if i run straight off the modem it works great..ive opened the ports needed but the fileshare pro only recognizes the router ip 192.168.1.....anu ideas how to get around this...i can get to it from my other comps ( lan ) but dont want to have to unhook everything and reboot the modem to get it so my friends can DL off me...thanks again

hello all...i am making maps for bf1942 and would like to be able to have people (friends) get the maps off my other computer...i did it once from my nephew with downloading a file i needed and it worked great and i think it was an ftp address..could someone direct me in the correct direction for what i need to do this...thank you ...

finally figured everything out ..got the origional win 98 disc and all went well...well kinda..and now it's up and running...thanks to all for their help...

ok i found my problem and it was the install disc..a friend brought over his restore disc and everything went perfect after that..thanks to all who helped with my problem .

thank you all for the info...greatly appreciate it... ok i figured a way to do it..i tryed cd copy and no go..so i made a folder on the desktop and copyed and then pasted it into the folder then opened up my cd burner and burnt to disc with no problem...thanks again....

i think it was done with norton ghost...windows 98.. ez cd creator...when i installed 98 on my comp with the disc norton ghost copied image to disk...then after restart it worked...thanks for the help..im new to alot of this..

hope i didnt post in wrong forum...a friend let me borrow a copy of windows 98 (restore cd ) he got from the computer place that rebuilt his computer..he tryed to copy the cd but i would go half way and eject the cd...now this is a burnt copy from the comp place so i know it can be done i just don't know how to do it..cloning ?...can anyone please help on this....thanks

thanks again ...yes it's a upgrade disc to win 98se...when i went through the format it took files off both cds (3.11 and 98se ) when it was installing windows but did not ask for cd key for upgrade so it didnt do that...both lights flashed on the cd and dvd drives at one point so i think it was taking files from both discs...it said it was installing windows but did not use or do upgrade but after all was done the c:\> showed up ...sorry but im tryin... now i did not do a full format i mean i didn't do the partition thing..should i ?? it was a comp i was using everyday and it started to act up so i had to do a format.. another question is the comp origionally came with a restore disc (compaq) then i had an upgrade done..667mhz to 1700+...is there any way to use it?? your knowledge is GREATLY appreciated

thank you zipp51 for all your help..so you understand exactly what i did inserted 3.5 and restarted when a:\> showed up i put format c: /s let it go through entire reformat then labeled drive driveC a:\> came back up put in d: d:\> came up..typed in setup ..hit enter recognized the cd drive and i have windows 3.11 and win 98 se (3.11 in cd drive 98se in dvd drive) chose express setup copied files off disc windows setup started copied all files (from the 3.11 cd and win98se cd) then it tells me to reboot so i do reboots then the c:\> shows up again and i type in WIN and i get a bad command or file name i have never done anything in bios so im kinda lost there just don't understand it loaded all files then doesn't work

ok i did everything you all said and it did the setup from the 3.5...at the end i rebooted and then everything loaded then the c:\> came up again...what should i put so it continues with the loading ...sorry this is my first time rebooting and it's not going all that good..i tryed e:\ d:\ and nothing...
