  1. have a look at http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/sunbird/
  2. this might be totally stupid but could you do it using vnc and autoit? what you would do is install the vnc server on all the pc's then form a master pc run would run a script that would activate vnc client, connect to remote computer, log it in and then move on to next pc? also is it possible to log a computer in form the cmd line? if so you could use once of the various different tools that let you remotely use the cmd line to log computers on and encapsulate all the dirty text side behind a few batch files or vb. just a couple of ideas any way.
  3. google bartPE and that will set you on the road. though you will need to work out for your self how to use that to access the computers registry using bart
  4. MPC all the way. I have VLC on my mac as that's the only thing that i can find that's remotely good, and to be honest i detest it. iTunes is an insult, quick time is worse still. wmp is ugly, winamp is slow and cumbersome for video (in my experience). MPC and ffdshow work very well for my needs.
  5. How about deMister? use it to help clear your view
  6. as far as i know, no, it is not possable in the way you describe. if however the user only needs access to file shares on the other lan they could have a drive mapped to them that authenticates using the credentials of the other domain assuming that both domains are on the same physical lan.
  7. have a look at winstall le 2003 http://www.ondemandsoftware.com/PurchaseLE.asp its fairly cheep and works reasonably well for basic tasks.
  8. open the tcp/ip settings on your nic click on advanced and then you can add 2 static ip's 2 gateways on 2 subnets. unless you need to ahve physicly seprate cards this is the most logical way of doing what you want.
  9. I reinstall as an when i need it. for example my main computer had a very good fast and stable xp install that i put on in 2004. worked better than any install i have had before running 24 hours a day untill the hdd crashed but on other computers i reinstall 2 or 3 times a year and when i reisntall i can do it up to 10 or 20 times, basicly untill i am happy with the way it is all working. if microsoft can ever fix the strange way you can get good and bad installs from the same cd i would be very happy. but then again that is as realistic a hope as there launch dates!
  10. mine is taking up 1.51 GB (1,622,170,441 bytes) and i thought that was big :/ it not like its even a new install as i dit this 15/02/2006 xp tablet edition
  11. was with freedom 2 surf but since they added caps and trafic prioritisation i have left them and moved to zen (who have since added caps but fortunatly not to exsisting users) so far they ahve been very very good
  12. humm, no one has suggested tape ait2 should be sufficent for your needs and its much cheaper than blu-ray or hd for both drive and medium. </snigger>
  13. did 95 gold and 95a run on fat32 by default? i have a fealing that it is something to do with the way they supported fat32 that cause's a problems but dont hold me to that. its been a long time since i used 95
  14. Yeah, i rember using a 98 upgrade cd to install from and all i could find in terms of orignal media was a copy of windows 95 on floppy disks, and ms wont let you off by just looking at the first disk. it wants to check a random 10 disks. humm, this has reminded me that i never did find out why we had a copy of windows 95 on floppy disks :/
  15. have you tryed using a web broser that is not based on the IE core? e.g firefox or opera?
  16. Manufacturer: Acer Model: TravelMate C300 41636572 20202020 20202020 202020
  17. I like segate, WD, maxtor and samsung (if low temp is more important than speed ). i have heard alot of problems with maxtor but tbh i have 5 250gb that i have had for over a year and have worked fine a 120 thats still good an 8gb that still works and even a 540mb drive that works fine (though is technicly useless!) i am still carefull over hitachi disks due to having owned one of the crap ibm disks that died on me. (hitachi brought ibm's disk devision a cupple of years later as ibm had done so much damage to their name by bringing out a very large range of unreliable drives)
  18. did you export that from your registry after manualy setting it up? as on my pc the ip address is not a hex value but a string value
  19. i would do it that way on the basis that PATA is not good when you have 2 devices actively transfering data at the same time on the same cable. hence i would recomend putting data on to the new hdd before buring it to dvd. also this has the advantage when doing disk to disk cd copys.
  20. daft question but how are you starting xp setup off?
  21. A bit more detail would help. are they SATA or PATA (old style IDE) drives. If SATA there is no master slave setting needed. if PATA (old style IDE) then i assume you know how to physicly change between the two and go for a setting like this old hdd as primary master, new dvd-r as priamry slave, new hdd as secondarey master and old cd-r as seconday slave. this is on the basis that you will keep your opperating system on the old hdd and will be mostly recording to the dvd-r from the new hdd
  22. You need to turn of simple file and printer sharing. if you open an explorer window go to tools then folder options and finally view, scroll down the bottom and you should see that its says something like “use simple file sharing (recommended)” remove the tick and hit apply. You should now have access to the security tab.
  23. how about http://www.beyondlogic.org/solutions/remot.../BeyondExec.htm
  24. or you could goto a cmd prompt and type systeminfo which will gve a lit that can be copyed and used rather than typeing it out... personlay though i use wsus to manage all the updates. once configured its fairly easy to use. (although it could be much better if it did not need active directory or automatic updates)
  25. start run and type in Xpsp2.exe /? you can do this for most programs
