  2. in w2k3 internet explorer is there a way to reduce the internet seruity setting to medium and the trusted sites setting to medium for standard users. I can to this as administrator fine no problems but the settings do not propergate to standard users and standard users dont have the option to change these. can these settings be altered by the administrator for all users that log on to the server and override any settings in there profile.
  3. I am running a room containing 30 wise thin client terminals on a Windows 2003 server running terminal services. When using a USB memory key on a terminal it takes a long time for the key to activate and become usable, but using usb floppy or cd drives the connection is instant and i dont have problems with any other ports on the terminals. Does anyone else have this problem with slow usb keys, or know a fix to speed things up. Note: if the memory key is not a fat file system, the key tends to get blanked when its plugged in. thanks all oh yes one more thing im using rdp 5.1, on the terminals with drive mapping
  4. Under network connections local area connections properties there is a tick box to enable the firewall how do you disable this via registary or command line that i can use in the unattended installation. i am using sp1a not sp2 as sp2 does not run correctly on our network as yet. Thanks Andy

  7. dont panic over this found the reg code ;DisableDynamicUpdate can only be set in the registry and the setting overrides the checkbox Register this connection's addresses in DNS found on the DNS tab [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters] "DisableDynamicUpdate"=dword:00000001 does the job but would have liked the chk box to be cleared to show it was done but if it works it works and thats fine.
  8. when setting up new computers on our departments network we need to switch off a TCP/IP DNS setting "Register this connection's addresses in DNS". Does anyone know what to change in the registry to get it switched off that way i could set it during a windows xp installaton and never have to worry about it. see image attached.
