  1. the OP went out the window, someone found a driver issue and then someone else suggested PSU.

anyway, Thats all nice but as I said before it runs off the motherboard. I figure what you were saying still applies but in a different way, perhaps the mobo simply cannot give the card the power it needs, not enough power running through the motherboard for it?, your thoughts... also if anyone else knows anything about the driver problem spotted before can they enlighten me as to whats going on... thx

  2. Hi well you first need to check if it’s over heating download EVGA Precision and see what temps the card is running at. Also remember with newer video cards you need amps some as much as 60 amps on the 12 volt rail of a psu make sure your 500 watt psu will cover the power requirements if you get a new card. Also as Palit only offers a 1 year warranty on there cards I would go with evga or bfg for the life time warranty.

Heat is usualy 40-50 degrees celcius. And iv only had my computer for just over half a year so the warranty isnt an issue, it wasnt so bad on xp, on windows 7 however its a different story. also it draws power from the motherboard, there is no power conection on the card itself. here is a link to the cards Specs

  3. Thanks but im not willing to persue it that far, im already getting a new card anyway, id just like to be able to sell the old one on. If its any more help i got information from a crash report that looked to be a bit more in depth (or not, i really dont know what im on about so, yea):

  5. a core i7 system would be an idea. ASUS makes good mobos for just about anything so your set there. Graphics is a touchy subject with direct-x11 cards just starting to appear, waiting may be a good idea to see which is best for what you want... does 8Gb RAM make a major increase in performance? to me it sounds a little excesive but thats just me. if you plan on having an SLI system, a good case can make all the difference between sweet graphics and a melted GPU so choose wisely. other than that you might want to consider a solid state drive or two, and maybe an ordinary 1Tb for things like documents, media and backups.

  6. OK...

to start with, people will want to play songs they know, both games have a fair variety so its up to you. More people seem to like guitar hero as it was here first. both have controllers that will break if overhandled, and i have heard people say that guitar hero has less response problems.

Xbox pro would be better, but if u really want to save, get an arcade.

GH3 controllers will work on world tour and metallica, i wouldnt be to sure further down the path though, and world tour was the first GH to have more than just the guitar.

Usualy you will need a controller to use the mic on GH, bear this in mind when thinking how many you will need (im guessing about 4).

Im pretty sure that you get both ordinary video and component inputs on xbox, i would check if i were you however, just to make sure.

you will only need a standard controller with GH to use the mic, other than this the drums and guitar are stand alone controllers, they dont need an xbox controller to work.

  7. hi all, i recently made the switch from nvidia to ATI with a HIS HD 3650 AGP graphics card. after playing IL2 1946 for a while i switched to playing dawn of war dark crusade. about 5 minutes into playing the screen froze and the whole computer became non-responsive. now it does this on all sorts of games, unless i use the ATI catalyst utility to underclock the core from its default running speed of 725Mhz to 595Mhz. I have had the card at default speed with the catalyst utility, and with the ATI overdrive disabled, it makes no difference. i am running a 300w PSU, which is the recomended minimum, could it be a power consumption problem. i also noticed that GPUz could not pick up a fan speed. i also think it could be driver related but i want other opinions before i decide what to do.

  8. Alot of the time they're what holds a PC together, unless your one of the inventive types that stick it all together in a drawer or sit the components on your bed (zenskas...)

personaly, i love cases. They can quite your system, allow for extra cooling and be decorated to show of your rig.

    so to start it off

Antec 900II, a good quality case that has good enough fans to be a wind tunnel, but doesnt take up your entire desk (or wherever you place it), and will look bueatiful nonetheless. The only let down is the need for tools, but the price seems compensation enough.

  9. Thanks people. ill chenk the links after this post.

RRP was 30 AU$, so it was half price. I checked the other day and saw two fans in the back of my console, it confuses me and others that so many say its just a single fan setup. I probably need not worry me so much as i place the console and powerbrick in an open environment. btw, i've seen the sort of setup before, from memory it was a verticle stand, which id have to give a miss. I keep mine horizontal, so i dont knock it over by accident (or on purpose  ).

  10. i made this post as i saw a mod for an xbox360 the other day. They've been round for a while now, its a little snap on device that plugs into the xbox's power input, and covers the rear fan vents with 3 supposedly faster moving fans covering the vented area.

it discounted to $15, even at that price, is it really worth buying? or would it end up being a useless lump on the back of my elite...
