  1. Hello all, Thanks to everybody who took care of my problem... I have performed some extra tests for actual problem determination with ISO generation, in my case. Here are the results : If I perform an update (say SP3 over native XP) I have no problem whatever application is running : LAN, antivirus (AVAST), anti-spy (resident SpyBot), anti-adware (Ad-Watch live) and anti spam (SpamPal). To be able to generate ISO, when I add drivers (nVidia) and/or automation to the above, I need ONLY to stop "Ad-Watch live" (from Ad-Aware) . Why ? I have to add that when ISO generation stops : the system is not frozen nor Nlite : I can still use Cancel and Abort commands from the Nlite window an extra file named "setupreg.hiv.log" is created in the I386 folder both files setupreg.hiv (present in native XP I386 folder) and setupreg.hiv.log are locked until reboot (no way to edit, rename or delete them) Conclusion : the tip to disable all security SW given by johnhc did the job, even if, in my case, only one was the culprit.
  2. You got it ! Thank you... My report : DL and install nLite 1.4.9.1 Disabling the network (by mean of deconnecting Ethernet cable), firewall and antivirus programs did not solve the problem. It became successful after deactivating "Adware live" and "Spybot resident" applications. If this topic is not closed, I will try to remove one component at a time and post which one(s ?) is (are) the culprit(s) of this problem. The "setupreg.hiv.log" was not added to the I386 folder either : I will try to find out how it can be set ????
  3. Hello all I post here because the previous posts (feb 02 09 "nLite won't create image" and "nLite use to stop during ISO file creation") dit not bring answer to my problem... Here are the facts : I want to build an XP pro installation CD which incorporates SP3 AND nVidia drivers. My first trial to do it in "one shot" resulted in stop at the build the bootable ISO step : the system is not stuck and the buttons "Abort" and "Cancel" are still active, but nothing happens the progress bar does not progres and the status stays for ever at "Preparing 2.16/2.16". When I tried to blank the temp nLite directory (D:\CDXP), I got a pop up window saying "Unable to suppress SETUPREG : ressource used by another....". The culprits were : setupreg.hiv.log and setupreg.hiv files in I386 directory. After restarting Windows, I was able to open and delete these files, and restart with clean original installation files. I tried then to integrate ONLY SP3 and it went like a charm to the completion of generating the ISO file. My next trial to add SP3 AND nVidia drivers led to the same result as 1 ! I must say that I did those trials many times for the same exact results. When ISO image is built : there is no "statreg.hiv.log" in the I386 directory, the "statreg.hiv" can be deleted without restart of Windows and there is no "lastsession.ini" in nLite temp directory. What am I doing wrong ???? In case it couls help I attach the "lastsession.ini file when the bug happens (I have not been allowed to upload the "setupreg.hiv.log" file). My configuration : MoBo MSI K9N Neo V2, proc AMD Athlon 64x2 5200, Ram 2Go, Windows XP pro SP3. Thanks for any help... LAST_SESSIONSP3_DRV.INI
