  1. very true, but my newer xp machines are SATA, where the old one in question is pre sata era thanks for all your help by the way
  2. thats fine, thats what i figured, i just have an old machine i dont feel like putting money into, so ill just build two images, a dvd one and a cd version
  3. Ok so i wrote my batch file and tested it, it works great. the only problem i see is that the dot net package is huge thus pushing it over the 700Mb limit of my CD, any way around that? (cant use a DVD) or will i just have to keep that seperate
  4. Got a step in the right direction, took all the automated stuff ok, language settings, cd key etc. but when i get to my desktop i see sp3 was installed corectly, but my dotnetfx.exe didnt load at all, i tried putting it under the fixes/updates section, should i be using it under the runonce command instead? Speaking of runonce i have a list of 3 things currently, flash, adobe reader, and java and flash being the first item on the list installed ok but the other 2 items did not. this is what i have currently %SOURCE%\install_flash_player_10_active_x.exe /s %SOURCE\AdbeRdr90_en_US.exe /sAll /rs /l /msi"/qb-! /norestart ALLUSERS=1 EULA_ACCEPT=YES SUPPRESS_APP_LAUNCH=YES" %SOURCE\jre-6u12-windows-i586-p-s.exe [/L<1033>] /s /v/qn" [iEXPLORER=1][iNSTALLDIR=<drive>:\<install_path>] [REBOOT=Suppress]" i found those out on the web so i have no clue if they are correct, i just want my flash, adobe reader, and java to all install silently and without any user input that and i want to load all of the current post sp3 windows updates into it, but i cant even get dot net framework to go
  5. wow oddly enough this is the exact same problem im having! So the general concensus is i should only make an xp slipsteam from and xp machine, because currently i was building my xp slipstream off of my vista machine? If thats the case is it ok to at least build a xp 32 bit slipsteam off of a 64 bit xp machine?
