  1. If you are being bit by the infinite reboot loop caused by using windows update on a vlited install, make sure you integrate all the Windows hotfixes. I could never figure out which set of vlite options caused the loop, even with a fairly liminted set. However, if I integrated all the hotfixes using a combined set from fox's update pack and those pulled down by apup (autopatcher), then I do not get the loop problem Two things to note when integrating hotfixes 1) For some reason vlite will not integrate hotfixes into a 64bit OS when run on a 32 bit OS. However, this is not a Vista 32 limitation - you can use peimg and imagex from the AIK to integrate just fine. I have a script that I use to do this, though it is slow - takes 30+ minutes to integrate my full set of hotfixes. Let me know if anyone is interested in it 2) If you integrate windows search 4.0, windows update will continuously think it needs to be reupdated, but fail every time. Either skip that hotfix during integration or right click on the hotfix in windows update and hide it from future checks
  2. OK - very wierd. I tried vlite on a fresh 32 bit install and no crashes during processing - must be some issue with my older Vista install that has been used for 8-10 months. I also went back to 1.1.6 and no infinite loop after downloading vista updates However, I built a new 64 bit install so that I could then slipstream hotfixes (not allowed under the 32 OS), but hotfix integration crashes vlite (1.1.6 and 1.2) immediately. That was on a clean system that I even reinstalled with a different power supply and memory - same one that the 32 bit version worked fine on. I also tried using both .msu and extracted .cab updates w/o luck. Has anyone gotten 64 bit hotfix integration working?
  3. I just downgraded to 1.1.6 and vlite completed a combined hotfix slipstream and component removal so this is only a 1.2 bug. I also got the infinite reboot loop issue with 1.2 (no integrated hotfixes) and so will try this 1.1.6 to see if that goes away next. Install #10+ coming up...
  4. Same here. I did have a settings file at one point that did not cause the loop, but somehow lost it and don't know which change causes the problem. Looks like I'll have to play around some more because I need to install another system. By the way, the loop happens with both Windows update and Autopatcher and I thought I read something about removing windows mail causing the problem, but I have that unchecked so it is something different
  5. If I attempt to integrate any hotfixes along with the many other option changes and package removals, vlite will crash during the final stage. Integrating hotfixes alone works fine as do all the other changes alone. Only the combination fails. I am using Fox's update pack to collect updates, but I tried with several subsets of patches, including just the oldest one or two critical updates and it still crashes. I attached my last session file to help reproduce the problem. I'm using Vista Ultimate 32 and attempting to modify an Ultimate 32 source that includes the official sp1 built in directly from MSDN TIA Last_Session.ini Last_Session_u.ini
