  1. It's been a long time since I got this computer Is there somewhere I can get the recovery disks or download them?
  2. Okay, first post, ever Back in December I got a virus/spyware which was really ticking me off so I tried everything I could think of like CMD prompt deleting it, Safe Mode, current antivirus etc. one of the spectacular techniques I used was deleting files that had just recently been used/made (horrible idea I know), after that I tried to do a bunch of updates to my system to see if that would fix it (I ended up downloading updates for main comp AND I also got the brilliant idea of updating other non-vital things like Media Center) but anyway that didn't work so I ended up getting a new Antivirus which killed it but in my attempt to seek and destroy I had some collateral damage. Now my Media Center (2005 I think)doesn't work... it will open but other than that I just get alot of error messages which I will now include. 1. I open up main program /Media Center was unable to open messenger. /Make sure Windows messenger is installed on your computer. [no big deal so far] 2. Click on My TV get message \some of the files needed to play radio or video are missing or corrupt. \Media Center component registration may have failed. [okay...thats probably not good] 3. Click on Live TV get message /application has generated an exception that could not be handled / /process id=0x108c (4236), Thread id=0x1090(4240) [that sucks...] 4. Click {Attempt to repair} get message \Registered JIT debugger is not available. An attempt to launch JIT debugger with the following command resulted \ in an error code of 0x2(2). Please check computer settings. \cordbg.exe !a 0x108c [...] 5. abort or at this point it generates a crash report okay possible clue I isolated a date from one of the error report files that may be useful Initialize setup: MedCtrOC.DLL 12/13/08 22:25:14 [freestyle - OC_PREINITIALIZE] - complete [freestyle - OC_INIT_COMPONENT] OnOcInitComponent enter OnOcInitComponent leave - complete [freestyle - OC_QUERY_STATE] - complete [freestyle - OC_CALC_DISK_SPACE] g_SetupInfo.ComponentInfHandle = 0x00176a18 addComponent = TRUE Leaving OnCalcDiskSpace... rc = 0x0000000d - complete [freestyle - OC_CLEANUP] - complete [freestyle - OC_PREINITIALIZE] - complete [freestyle - OC_INIT_COMPONENT] OnOcInitComponent enter OnOcInitComponent leave - complete [freestyle - OC_QUERY_STATE] - complete [freestyle - OC_CALC_DISK_SPACE] g_SetupInfo.ComponentInfHandle = 0x011c9d68 addComponent = TRUE Leaving OnCalcDiskSpace... rc = 0x0000000d - complete [freestyle - OC_CLEANUP] - complete in UnRegister mode: 12/13/08 22:43:36 ------------------------------------------------------ Opening inf file 'C:\WINDOWS\inf\mcdftreg.inf' SetupFindFirstLine failed: The section EHome_Self_Registering might be empty: 0xe0000102 Unregister Services... ------------------------------- KillProcess: Process (ehmsas.exe) was terminated.
