another clue: i put the quicklaunch toolbar on the desktop, apart from the taskbar... and this bar is saved when i log off.... the taskbar position is also saved weird! is there any malware that can have done this?

I got the same pb here, xp doesn't save my toolbar settings... I tried -tweaking the registry -restore point before this pb nothing worked btw the toolbar settings aren't saved for each account on this computer... even new one (scuz my english, im frenchie)
