  1. I solved the problem. The issue was I ran this remotely. Somehow, it didn't like that. Once I ran locally, I was able to create the unattend ini file. Strange, as creating the unattend ini file on Visual Studio 2010 runs fine. Alas, it's generally better to run locally if that'll suffice and this is case in point.
  2. Hi there, I am trying to create the unattend file for VS 2008 but it freezes. I'm trying the command: \\SERVER_NAME\vs2008\Setup\setup.exe /createunattend c:\VS2008_deployment.ini But the unattend file creation process just hangs at the main initial setup screen, right after I click "next". What gives? Notice that the options like Next, Cancel or the X exit button are greyed out. After watiing for the rest of the setup to begin for 2 hours, something tells me it's hung hard.
  3. I have been having some trouble creating a silent install package of Mozilla Thunderbird 1.0.2 with a certificate authority already integrated. Here's a screenshot of what I mean: As you can see, it has already been imported on my computer. However, what I want to do is to include this in a silent install and have the certificate installed during the installation process. Since I'm not aware of any registry keys to add certificates, what I did was create a custom MSI installer. I did a before snap-shot, proceeded to install Mozilla Thunderbird and then after Thunderbird was installed I imported the CA certificate and then finished my after snapshot using WinInstall LE. The custom MSI package appeared to have worked, but the CA certifcate does not appear from a fresh install of Mozilla Thunderbird. The reason it worked before was that I had already installed Thunderbird, added the CA and then I tried to test it by uninstalling Thunderbird and then using my MSI package. It appeared to have worked because the registry was still dirty. Point is that a clean install will never see the CA that I tried to integrate. If any has any registry keys or another way of doing it I would really appreciate it. I tried to attach the CA certificate for those to play around with but the forum does not allow files with .cer extensions.
  4. I'm almost out of ideas. I'm starting to think it's impossible to silently install my particular version of McAfee Virus Scan. None of the installer specific command switches work. None of the McAfee install switches work. I couldn't get it to work by taking the TEMP files, and it also didn't work with WinINSTALL LE. I'm using the University of Washington licensed version of McAfee Virus Scan Enterprise Edition 7.0. The furthest I got was McAfee seemingly being installed, but the virus scan and update engines were not intact. The standard McAfee silent install switches do not work on the UW supplied McAfee installer package. I also have tried hacking the install by taking the contents of the extracted files (From C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\name_of_folder) without success as well. I haven't tried the other countless number of installation packaging programs, but I am getting very frustrated. Is there some way that Im just overlooking or haven't thought about? If you want, go to this link to download the program and see for yourself: Link Remove (Download Size: 11,383,002 bytes) -Larry VirusScan copies given out by Universities are for their students ONLY. Otherwise its warez ~Alanoll
