  1. I am angry right now, as I followed directions to a 'T', and XP installed ok i was getting weird errors though, like a parser error that would not let me open the add/remove programs console 1 or 2 programs wouldnt work... so i am now trying to find a way to implement the ICH9M driver, and i can choose it from the USB floppy i am using in windows, but i am still getting a BSOD just felt like updating...
  2. yeah, i read the guide, it seems to have gone into the nlite disc i made ok... but i already have a problem... I have booted 3 times now to the blue screen where setup happens..where i pick the partition i want to install on, then the screen after that u can choose the slow format or the quick format, NTFS, etc... i chose to leave current file system intact, because i already formatted it, NTFS, but it just keep going back to this screen, even AFTER i pick the 'leave current file system intact (no changes)) it says it's copying files, then goes black for about 3 or 4 minutes, then the blue partition screen comes back...
  3. i was able to delete the restore partition, and the original Vista partition, made one big partition, then chose to install XP on that one... I am doing the thorough format, not the quick one... when will i be able to tell if the driver was slipstreamed in and i wont have any install problems? im at 64% on the format prog bar... thanks in advance!
  4. I actually do not have the laptop yet, as he is in Missouri, and I am in Florida...he is supposed to next-day or 2nd-day it to me leaving today, so i should have it wed or thurs hopefully...
  5. I know that my problem has also been issued here, and I did look at this guide: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=107504 but it's just a bit over my head... so this controller WILL slipstream in properly and not give me any problems as long as I put it in the right place in nlite?
  6. I apologize in advance if I am taking valuable resources to answer a simple question... Here we go... I am downgrading from Vista to XP for a friend if mine on a new laptop he has bought for work. It is a Compaq CQ 50-139WM Compaq does not offer XP drivers for the laptop on their website, but I found a guy online who compiled a set of drivers for this particular model laptop. Included in the drivers is a note which says: -------------===== INSTRUCTIONS =====---------------- ** Prerequisite: Because the CQ50-139WM uses a ICH9M AHCI SATA controller, you must first load these drivers by pressing F6 at the beginning of the Windows XP installation, and loading the files manually. If you fail to do this, the Windows XP installation will die with a BSOD. The nessary drivers are found in the f6flpy32_85 folder, found on this CDROM. Copy these files to a diskette, or slipstream them into your windows installation using Nlite before proceeding. After this step, windows installation should proceed normally. After windows is finished installing, install the device drivers in the following steps: 1 - Install the chipset software located in: Drivers\IntelChipsetSoftware 2 - Install the video driver, located in: Drivers\Video 3 - Install .NET framework 2.0, located at: Drivers\Audio\dotnetfx.exe (this is a prerequisite for the audio driver) 4 - MANUALLY install the audio driver by following the instructions at: Drivers\Audio\manual_install_XP_driver.txt The drivers when you're following these steps are located in Drivers\Audio\ConexantHDAudio_221_XP 5 - Install the Synaptics touchpad software, located in: Drivers\Touchpad 6 - Install the Realtek Ethernet driver for the wired LAN, located in: Drivers\Network\Wired 7 - Install the Atheros Wifi driver for wirless LAN, located in: Drivers\Network\Wireless 8 - Install the modem driver, located in: Drivers\Modem 9 - Install the HP Quicklaunch buttons driver, located in: Drivers\HP_QuickLaunch_Buttons my problem is, I do not know WHERE in the nlite setup for my XP disc do I insert the ICH9M AHCI SATA controller so that the install will proceed properly...is it considered a driver? does it need to go somewhere else in order to work properly? thanks in advance, any and all help is appreciated! By the way, if anyone else has this particular laptop and needs the drivers for it, contact me and i'll get them to you Scott
