I do a common task of opening Disk Management to assign my CD drive to a deep letter, like Z. This way it doesn't get changed. An old habit from days when installed games expected CD drives to be a certain letter, usually bumped by additional drives. Is there a setting to change drive letters? Or is this a good idea or possibly something in the works?

John, you saw clearly into what I was doing wrong. I had been pointing nLite back at my preconfigured directory. I am guilty of being a lazy cd swapper. I do have VPC on my home PC since it can handle the split resources, but I had been running nLite off a work PC with limited computing power off it. I think I see what I was doing with reusing my i386 preconfigured. My cd's were getting most recent setting, as well as previous settings. Only the settings that stated true statement, would override the previous setting. So, on a previous install I disabled a feature. After I enabled part of its features but not all. Since some of the features didn't answer true, it used the history setting since a present setting wasn't available. kk, note to self, use fresh OS cd's. test vcd on old dell. love this program, saves so much time and prevents general annoyances.

also forgot to mention, when I open Start > Programs , I do not see "windows update" and "open office document". I have a habit of launching "microsoft update" from there. After seeing everything else in there, I guess I never needed that section but I don't remember specifying to turn it off. I'll check back on my post this evening and tomorrow morning. I'll post again if I found what I did wrong too.

I recently started using nLite after discovering it in my MaximumPC disk. It appears to be the blessing that will end my baby sitting during computer loads. I've created about 10 cd's so far and I'm getting a little further each time. However, there are some things that are boggling my mind why I set them one way and they react a different way. Here are somethings that are troubling me: (listed in priority) Error reporting is disabled, but I am no longer notified of critical errors. Remote Assist is enabled, but Remote Desktop is not. I've hit the check box for Remote Desktop though. Start Menu does not have Run, Search, or Help. I don't recall setting these. Start Menu has small icons above, I remember specifying large. My log off button disappeared but I believe this is because I only have one user set up I have seen in other posts people requesting the 'last session.ini" so I will include mine. Ignore the acrobat, java, and flash installs in hotfixes. I was being experimental. I'll figure out those eventually or just manually install. The IE7 worked like a champ though. Is it possible I don't have the right .NET Framework on the computer I am creating these cd's on? LAST_SESSION.INI
