  1. Yes it works with the older "SETUPLDR.BIN", copied to the \i386 directory before burning the CD. My questians are the purpose to evaluate side effects of my manipulation. I hope an expert will answer and clear it. I found also a lot of tips around the file setupldr.bin but always in different problem descriptions than my problem is. According to this found descriptions I don't expect side effects. But I am not an expert in this. Your tip about burning: I tried more than 25 different settings using nlite and Nero-7 (and others too). used three different bott Images. Read many guides. I know now exactly which parameters are important to get a well bootable CD. jbell
  2. Used different burners, different burn software, different settings, searched the net for help and guides - I spent some days and burned more than 25 different CD's alraedy. My Notebook Tecra does not boot with the homemade CD, other computers can boot with it. My latest few steps: - I integrated SP3 with nlite (v1.4.5) - source was XP-pro Sp2. The CD boots at three different computers but NOT at my Toshiba Tecra A8 . - I use nlite to burn a normal Xp Sp2 CD for Test. This one boots everyehre, so my procedure, the hardware and software seems OK. - I compare the two sources SP2 and SP3. Search for newer files in SP3. Found some suspect. - I use the SP3 source and copy one old file "SETUPLDR.BIN" in \i386 - got it from SP2 source. HELLO WORLD - boot at Tecra OK. Now my Questians: Does anybody know why MS replaced the SETUPLDR.BIN in SP3 by a newer one and what is the improovement of it? Can I replace this file in the SP3 version with a older one without any later problems during repair run, and also a new installation should work? Thanks jbell
