  1. Hi, I used the below entry to enable quick launch in an unattended installation, and I noticed that when installing from [GuiRunOnce] Firefox, Thunderbird, and Winamp (not silent, with dialogs :)), their icons don't get added to the quick launch bar. By default, these programs create quicklaunch icons when installing them normally.

    By the way, I got the tweak above from http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=11672&st=0. Thanks in advance.

    Edit: I forgot to add that if I re-install them manually, the icons get created.

  2. WwTIPPYwW: Yep, that's what I did. However, the pagefile is always stuck at 191MB on my virtual PC. Does it work for you?

    prathapml: Thanks I'll check that out :).

    Edit: prathapml, yours seems very effective :rolleyes:. I'm trying it on my VPC in an hour or so :D.

    Edit: Bah, it's still stuck at 191MB. The initial size shows 768MB, and the maximum size shows 768MB. However, the "Currently Allocated" shows 191MB. Restarting it didn't work. Is this a VPC 2004 bug?

  3. Hey, I've been wondering, what is the /SP- switch for? I've managed to make it completely silent, however, it doesn't automatically install the Real and Quicktime plugins for my firefox browser, probably cause it'll require a dialog. I don't mind having a dialog for just a short while, so which is the switch that will allow dialogs when needed?

    Edit: Thanks by the way :). Helped a lot!

    Edit: Pardon my laziness, I just found out what /SP is for.

    /SP- Disables the This will install... Do you wish to continue? prompt at the beginning of Setup.

  4. Hiya, if you take a look at

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management]

    You'll see a key "PagingFiles", which I think holds the information for the page file, export it and you should be done. However, I've tried it on a Virtual PC installation, but it's always locked at 191MB, it seems there's some problem with Page Files in a VPC, cause it's still stuck at 191MB even when I install without that specific registry setting. Anyway, mine's set to C:\pagefile.sys, with a fixed size of 768MB.

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management]
    "PagingFiles"=hex(7):43,00,3a,00,5c,00,70,00,61,00,67,00,65,00,66,00,69,00,6c,\
     00,65,00,2e,00,73,00,79,00,73,00,20,00,37,00,36,00,38,00,20,00,37,00,36,00,\

  5. Sorry to bump this topic up, but I found out your switches are only 1/2 right. For some reason, when you type /SAVEINF="install.inf", the install.inf file will be saved to the Windows directory automatically. Thus, it's better to provide a full path, like /SAVEINF="C:\install.inf". Similarly, when you use /SILENT /SP- /LOADINF="install.inf", the program expects to find an install.inf file in the Windows directory, if it doesn't, it'll simply execute /SILENT /SP-, without the LOADINF part.

    Sorry if I'm wrong, I tried this on Kazaa Lite Mega Codec Pack 1.02, and found it out. Anyway, thanks for the switches :).
