  1. I installed WinMerge to see in which way the working D:\I386\asms directory differs from the not working one. On the untweaked (and working) WinLite DVD. D:\I386\asms looks like: 10/14/08 02:12 PM <DIR> . 10/14/08 02:12 PM <DIR> .. 10/14/08 02:12 PM <DIR> 1 10/14/08 02:12 PM <DIR> 10 10/14/08 02:12 PM <DIR> 1000 10/14/08 02:12 PM <DIR> 10100 10/14/08 02:12 PM <DIR> 2 10/14/08 02:12 PM <DIR> 5100 10/14/08 02:12 PM <DIR> 52 10/14/08 02:12 PM <DIR> 60 10/14/08 02:12 PM <DIR> 6000 10/14/08 02:12 PM <DIR> 60100 10/14/08 02:12 PM <DIR> 70 10/14/08 02:12 PM <DIR> 7000 10/14/08 02:12 PM <DIR> 70100 On the tweaked (and failing) DVD it looks like: 10/14/08 12:00 PM <DIR> . 10/14/08 12:17 PM <DIR> .. 10/14/08 09:30 AM <DIR> 1 10/14/08 09:30 AM <DIR> 10 10/14/08 09:10 AM <DIR> 1000 10/14/08 09:10 AM <DIR> 10100 10/14/08 09:30 AM <DIR> 2 10/14/08 12:00 PM <DIR> 40 10/14/08 09:10 AM <DIR> 5100 10/14/08 09:30 AM <DIR> 52 10/14/08 09:30 AM <DIR> 60 10/14/08 09:10 AM <DIR> 6000 10/14/08 09:10 AM <DIR> 60100 10/14/08 09:30 AM <DIR> 70 10/14/08 09:10 AM <DIR> 7000 10/14/08 09:10 AM <DIR> 70100 2 things have changed: One directory being '40' was added. It contains: E:\I386\ASMS\40>tree Folder PATH listing for volume WinLite Volume serial number is AB92-DC6D E:. ├───msft │ ├───msxml4 │ └───msxml4r └───policy └───40 └───msft └───msxml4 Additionally, one file was changed: E:\I386\ASMS\10\msft\windows\gdiplus\GDIPLUS.CAT Does this help? Next: I'll try to overwrite the tweaked files with the original ones.
  2. Hi, I'm getting the famous D:\I386\asms error during installation on a HP NW8240 laptop. I've started with a Windows XP Prof SP1. -Added SP2 -Added SP3 -Removed Components -Applied Tweaks -Added Ryan's Pack -Altered Options -Made an ISO using mkisofs -Burned ISO on DVD. The laptop can boot from the DVD, copy files to the hard disk, but after a reboot I get the following error. Error: Installation Failed: D:\I386\asms. Error message: The specified resource type cannot be found in the image file. I had the same error before, when I added laptop specific drivers to the image. Now, I didn't add any drivers, so that cannot be the problem. When I start from a Windows XP Prof SP1 and do: -added SP2 -added SP3 -added Ryan's Pack There is no problem installing Windows. (I do not get the error) So I expect the problem to arise when removing components, doing tweaks or options. In neither of the cases I did an unattended install. Any suggestion? PS: I have screenshots of the tweaks I did or components I removed.
