  1. I was reading about problems connecting portable devices to Vista-based computers after upgrading to SP1. The Microsoft support site says: If you disconnect and then reconnect the device, this issue is not resolved. If you restart the system with the device disconnected, and then you reconnect the device when the computer restarts, this issue is also not resolved. WORKAROUND To work around this problem, follow these steps: 1. Disconnect the device from the computer, and then power cycle the device. 2. Reconnect the device to the computer. The device drivers load correctly, and they are enumerated as expected in Device Manager. I always thought that you "power cycle" a device by either turning it off, waiting a few seconds, and then turning it on or by removing it (like a flash drive), waiting a few seconds, and then inserting it again. Apparently not according the Microsoft site and I can't find anywhere that explains how to "power cycle" a flash drive. Can anyone help???
