  1. Hi Everyone, this is my first post so be gentle. Right, I have approx 100 PC's that need rebuilding with XP, so I crack out what is an old XP CD with SP1 on it. It is a corporate edition, so figure easiest way is to streamline updates such as SP3, add in Media Player and the new IE then do remote install. I did have trouble getting SP3 to take initially, some thing about 3rd party update software, however I found deleting the 'updates' folder and a .inf file called svcp**.inf SP3 then took fine. Ok, I stick the XP SP3 image I have on the server, go to my first test machine and set away an automated install process, go for a coffee expecting to come back to an XP desktop. No, its got the usual System32\drivers\ntfs.sys not found or corrupt error message you often see when ntfs.sys is at fault. I thought not to worry try it again, but the same thing happens everytime I try the new install. (the standard XP SP1 install works fine btw). I have copied the ntfs.sys over manually but then get to BSOD error messages which I forget the details of. I have never come across this before, I thought with the version of XP I found being so old I would try updating to SP1a, then SP2 then SP3 but it made no difference at all. I know I can order another XP CD but I really wanted to kick a bunch of these installs off in the morning, so anything you guy can think of or help with would be great. Thanks guys
