So a few months back i bought a new laptop with windows vista home x86 pre-installed, I received no original OEM disc. I had to burn and make my own recovery disc. I recently decided that i wanted to create my own Vista Home bootable disc without a lot of the junk that comes with it. I recently found out about vLite and what it can do, however i was under the impression that it worked with any bootable vista disc be it OEM original or Recovery. So i load up my recovery disc and point vLite to the disc drive, vLite responds with the error that it "cannot find expected files"..I copied all the files from the disc to a new folder on my desktop and then tried again. Once again it said "cannot find expected files"..I have done some research concerning this, and this is basically my understanding..Am i right in thinking that vLite does not work with a recovery disc, but only with the OEM original Disc. If this is the case, would it be a good idea if i was to download a Windows Vista Home OEM disc, then use that i as my OEM disc?....I have only been able to find a few OEM disc online, which are of the DELL manufacture, and my laptop happens to be of the ADVENT manufacture. I have a legit serial key, but not sure if it was possible to just download said OEM disc, modify it with vLite, then burn it to DVD and pop it in and validate it with my legit serial key? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
