  1. Hi Everyone, I came across this site while posting a question I had on the Microsoft Newsgroup and thought I would try here: I have a new copy of Windows XP Professional (SP2) that I would like to install on my Lenovo laptop. My plan is to partition the HDD with a system partition (C:), programs partition (D:), and data partition (E:). During installation, I plan on just formatting the C drive leaving a large, unallocated space. Once XP finishes installation, I'll go back using Disk Management to create the D and E drives off the unallocated space (allowing me to set them up as primary drives rather than being forced to create them as logical drives within an extended partition). I would like the default drive for new programs to be D and would like for the Documents and Settings Folder for all users to reside on the E drive. I've never messed around with editing the Registry so I understand I may be able to do this using an "unattend.txt" file during installation. It appears I may have to do something like this: [Unattended] ProgramFilesDir="D:\Program Files\" ;Program Files CommonProgramFilesDir="D:\Program Files\Common\" [GuiUnattended] ProfilesDir="E:\Documents and Settings\";Documents and Settings Is this even possible using a new Windows XP CD I purchased if I decide to partition the D and E drives AFTER installation? Am I crazy to even contemplate this? I hate the thought of editing my registry after I finish installing the OS. Thanks in advance.
