  1. Ok not to sound like an id***, I know how to go to the permissions and then advanced where I can set certain things from there. But how do I allow rename but take away delete if you have to have delete enabled in order to rename something? Can you show me a screen shot of what you mean with specail perms?

  2. Before everyone says search !!!! I have searched and havn't figured out what is going on. I have this in WPI config file

    cmd1[pn]=['%wpipath%\\\\Install\\\\Office2003\\\\setup.exe TRANSFORMS=Office2003pro.mst /qb-]'

    The install seems to run just fine, but Office isn't installed when i go to the start menu?

    Is there a better way to install office through WPI? Am I missing anything, because the install works fine without WPI.

  3. Well let me explain agian .. We had a old w2k server that is turned off now. I then Setup a new domain with DNS, AD, and DHCP. No machines could talk to the DHCP server.. and the event log is clear. So I decide just for fun to uninstal the DHCP server and install it on another new w2k server using a differnt pool and all.. And nothing?

    No client can find the DHCP server...

  4. Still not working .. this is the weridest thing ever.. I mean is there a way to look at packets or something on the network to see if my server is even broadcasting it self as a DHCP?

    I change my scope, I even changed the server? I do not have to reset my routers or anything do I ?

  5. Of Course it is authorized ...

    Basically when I do a ipconfig /renew is says this...

    Windows IP Configuration

    An Error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : unable to contact your DHCP server. Request as timed out.

    Is there a way I can look to make sure the DHCP server is broadcasting?

  6. Has anyone used this tool?

    http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/tools/1421.html

    Pretty cool concept but I cannot seem to get it to work..You can import a registry file and output a adm file to use for group policy.

    My problem is the reg file I exported isn't fully getting impletmented in the .adm file? I was wondering if anyone knows why?

    Here is my reg file ..

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Blah\Blah Wizard]
    "Data"="\\\\192.168.100.13\\Shares\\BlahWizardDB\\"
    "Extension"="MBR"
    "Files"="C:\\TDW\\Work\\"
    "MSG"="0"

    Here is my adm file ..

    CLASS MACHINE
    CATEGORY SOFTWARE\Blah
     POLICY "Blah Wizard"
     KEYNAME "SOFTWARE\Blah\Blah Wizard"
       PART Data EDITTEXT
       VALUENAME "Data"
       END PART
       PART Extension EDITTEXT
       VALUENAME "Extension"
       END PART
       PART Files EDITTEXT
       VALUENAME "Files"
       END PART
       PART MSG EDITTEXT
       VALUENAME "MSG"
       END PART
     END POLICY
    END CATEGORY

  7. Ok we currently just went through a network revamp. I deceided to reinstall everything instead of trying ot migrate stuff to my new servers. Everything has gone perfect with the exception of my DHCP Server.

    I installed a toally new domain joined all my pcs to that domain using static address's. Now it was time to install the new DHCP Server so turned off the old DHCP Service and started up the DHCP service on the new server. Everything seems to be running fine. No errors in the event log, but none of my pcs can obtain a DHCP address?

    Anyone know why?

    My Domain server has the following services running on it - AD, Print, DNS, DHCP.

  8. Does anyone know of any guides like RyanVM's great guide on slipstreaming fix's into XP for window 2000?

    My work has decided not to upgrade but to stay with 2000 and I was wondering if there is a easier way like Ryan's to integrate the hotfix's....

    Also is there a final updated list somewhere of what needs to be integrated post sp4?

    Thanks.....

  9. Is anyone having any problems with this pack. It installed and worked great for me but when I run windows update it still says I am missing the following update...

    KB885836 - Vulnerability in WordPad could allow code execution

    I double checked his site and it says it is added in there?

    Also I ran his Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 Switchless Installer in my RunOnceEx.cmd file and when I ran windows update it said it wasn't installed?

    Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same problems. This was tested through VMware btw.

    Thanks....

  10. Ok guys there are a million links to different hotfixes and stuff that needs to be installed post SP4 ...

    But every one of them seems to be either not upto date or missing some stuff others have...

    Does anyone know a good link to everything that needs to be installed post SP4 on 2000.

    Thanks,

  11. So has anyone figured out how to silently activate WinDVD6 ???

    I use this to get rid of the registration dialog ...

    REG ADD "HKCU\Software\InterVideo\Common\Registered" /v 40r /t reg_dword /d "4294967295"

    But I dont know how to silently activate the product ???

  12. Thanks guys for you help .. Looks like you have to use the /Q command. I now have Office 2k3 working with all of the updates and my source is only 1.17 gigs :). Much smaller then most .... Here is how i did it if anyone is interested...

    I basically copied down the source from my AiO disk, created the MST files. I install each one first, and then run the updates..Works like a charm....

    Here is the script that i used ...

    ;Installing Office 2003 Suite
    start /wait %cdrom%\Applications\MSOffice2003\OFFICE\setup.exe TRANSFORMS=UnattendedOffice.mst /qb-
    start /wait %cdrom%\Applications\MSOffice2003\FRONTPAGE\setup.exe TRANSFORMS=UnattendedFrontpage.mst /qb-

    start /wait %cdrom%\Applications\MSOffice2003\ONENOTE\setup.exe TRANSFORMS=UnattendedOneNote.mst /qb-
