  1. Sounds like a SP3 issue to me.

Did you slipstream under Vista maybe?

If you slipstreamed it under XP as a host and did nothing else then report to MS or your shop where you got that OEM CD.

I slipstreamed under XP Pro SP2. Slipstreamed SP3 and nothing else. Also tried it on a retail CD without any service packs.

  2. Take one original Dell XP Pro SP2 that works perfectly and use the latest version of nLite to add only SP3 and you end up with a CD that causes BSOD 7b or no hard drive found on my Dells. You can integrate the latest AHCI/SATA drivers or use F6 during install and it stll causes the exact same failure.

I have been using nLite for some time with no problems - always on Dell computers using Dell CD media without problem.

This has to be a bug in nLite.

  3. I know I played this record before:

-Did you remove read-only from all your files after copying from the CD?

Never had to do that before but I gave it a try. If I right click on the i386 folder and remove the check for read only then apply, they are all read only when I open the folder again! How do I do it?

  4. Here it is:

Nothing about AHCI here. Is there anything, in the original CD, in CD Root\$OEM$\Textmode?

Nothing at all. The Dell XP Pro SP2 boots and installs fine. I tried it on a retail copy of XP with the same result??

I even tried loading the SATA drivers using F6 and the same BSOD.

    The failure code is always 0x0000007B 0XF78D2524 0xC0000034 0x00000000 0x00000000.

  5. I am not sure how Dell integrates AHCI. You could have a look at I386\WinNT.sif or what is in the $OEM$ folder.

    Does this tell you anything?

This is the nLite generated WinNT.sif. What is in the WinNT.sif (if any) on the original Dell CD?

  7. I have a Dell XP Pro SP2 CD that came with my Dell XPS410. I can boot from the CD and install XP with no problems. I used Nlite to add SP3 and only SP3. It will boot from this CD and copy files. However, when it gets to the starting windows screen, I get a BSOD with a reference to "7b". I have attemped this several times, a few times adding the ACHI SATA drivers. No go!

I have tried the manual method of slipstreaming with the same result.

    Any help would be appreciated!

Have you tried turning off the AHCI mode for SATA in the BIOS. If i remember right, this happened to me last week at work.

That would work I am sure at some sacrifice in performance. However, if the Dell CD works in AHCI mode, the nLite SP3 version should too!
