Wow, I've officially given up on trying to slipstream my dell XP pro disc. Nuhi, I tried your suggestion of using modifype and that worked...for that file. A few files later I got another corruption error. I did another global search where someone claimed slipstreaming sp2 to an oem disc was futile, but sp1 worked. No go there, either. Bombs out with the corruption error on vga.sys. Using modifype might finally get you through an install, if you're willing to do enough trial and error iterations to figure out how many files you have to repair. It would be interesting if someone was able to figure out just what it is about the oem disc that causes the hang-up. I got my hands on a retail xp pro disk that I slipstreamed with sp2 and it's working just fine. One simple observation I'll note is that when the disc content was copied to a working directory using nlite, the retail disc came up almost 100MB short of the oem (dell) disc.
