Hey MSFN, Thanks for a wonderfull website; I am having an x86 Desktop PC from year 1998 and its configuration is as follows: Pentium III ~800MHz EB (Coppermime) 128MB RAM - more typically SDRAM PC133 Award Modular BIOS V6.00 PGN Intel 82810 Chipset for Display - I810 20 GB Seagate HardDisk Intel AC97 OnBoard Sound Motorola SM56 Soft Modem LG CRD 8522B CDROM Drive Standard Floppy Disk Drive A Via USB 2.0 - PCI to USB - PCI card PS2 Keyboard & USB Mouse ITE IT8702 Super I/O Controller ACPI supported via BIOS System Does not supports USB Boot Now, first question most of the MSFN users will ask is why I am still running such an old pc with resources as low that is not able to meet requirements of mordern software (including Operating System)...........But answer to this is that this is my first computer system (I have others too) and I am very much attached to it as it being my first..........Man, I have sentiments for my oldy and I am not gonna diregard it, even if new pieces of technological marvel comes for free. Well anyways.......here is my problem: ---Abstract: When I boot my PC the BIOS POST goes fine i.e. it does not reports any errors or beep sounds but as soon as the Windows booting screen (one with blue color repetive progress bar) completes, my PC speaker produced contiuous beeping sound like beeeep <pause> beeeep <pause> beeeep............and the monitor wents into power saving mode showing no screen activity and also the HDD Indicator Light became continuos. I wait for some 10 -15 Minutes but same thing continued, no other activity happened and PC does not boots into Windows GUI Mode (one where I can see my mouse pointer). Windows booting screen: http://www.arkanlasida.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/6.jpg I also booted form UBCD (Ultimate Boot CD 4.1.1) and performed several tests on my system hardware (short tests that complete in about one hour or so; I can't afford for long tests pertaining over to week of activities as my residential area is subjected to very short period less frequent random power cuts). Mostly my concern for testing was system memory, processor and Hard Disk. ---Detailed: I was running this PC fine for the years and then due to my work importance, I was unable to use this PC for about a period of six months or so. One day I got some time and as per my habit I firstly opened its case and cleaned the inside using pressurized air can to remove any dust bunnies clogging up CPU FAN and SMPS. Then I thought to format the whole system with my Windows XP SP2 CD as I was having no important files on PC except for some install of old games. The POST got through fine and the system booted through XP SP2 CD and the textmode setup started. The textmode setup completed finely and reported no problems. But in GUI mode of setup after the 'Installing Components' phase my Monitor unexpectedly turned of (as if into Power Saving Mode) and the Hard Disk Activity Indicator on my CPU became continuous. I thought the PC might have entered into Power Saving mode (although it never happens during Windows Setup), I tried responding through mouse movements, clicks and keyboard space bar presses but the monitor didn't resumed its display nor the HDD indicator shows any improvement of random blinking. I waited for about 1 hour 45 Minutes or so leaving the PC in its current situation thinking that it might come automatically out of this situation but to no avail that happened. I thought my XP CD might have got corrupted over time, so I tried an alternative of this situation. I copied XP files onto my USB pendrive and plugged it in on my CPU and then I booted system using my Windows PE 1.0 Bootable CD. Again the POST was fine and CD booting started and the Windows booting screen (one with blue color repetive progress bar) was shown but as soon as this was completed and my mouse pointer was about to be shown, my PC speaker produced contiuous beeping sound like beeeep <pause> beeeep <pause> beeeep............and the monitor again went into power saving mode showing no screen activity and also the HDD Indicator Light became continuous. I wait for some 10 -15 Minutes but same thing continued, no other activity happened. I thought there might be a problem with CDROM Drive as it might be producing Read/Write errors; so I thought of an alternative solution to install XP. What I was about to do was install the system using Ghost 11.0 Disk Image of the same system created about one year back (I always keep one Ghost Image per system for times of emergency like virus attacks). For installing this image what I did was took out my Hard Disk, connected it to another system, made a bootable partition including Ghost Image and connected the Hard Disk back to my orignal system. Now I booted the system it went of through POST and then Ghost Dos Module started and I cloned the system to its orignal Image state. Now I rebooted the system and the POST again got through fine but when I as soon as the Windows boot screen stage completed my monitor again got back into power saving mode with same continuous Hard Disk Indicator Light activity and then nothing happened even after I waited for 10 Minutes. ---Conclusion: Guys I am into some real problem right now as I myself is being able to rectify some computer problems myself and solve them. But this time its getting very difficult to even get start of with what problem there is in actuality. I will and I am thankfull for any help and support that can be provided to me. Please someone help me. As always. Starpageup. P.S.: Sorry for really long post but I thought it will be most helpfull if I am able to fully describe the problem for better understanding of it.
