u see, i have a bootleg XP CD, i have the option to boot from my CD drive when i start up, but theres no boot files on my CD. im trying something now that i HOPE works. im making a bootable XP CD.

i cant boot past my logon screen, thats where the errors come up. the only option i have is to restart. and my XP CD is not working as a boot disk, what should i do??

I got my hands on an XP SP1 file, i installed it, everything went nice and dandy and then when I booted it gave me two errors following the boot screen 1: ----------------------------------------------------- |_winlogon.exe - Entry Point not found_____________X_| The procedure entry point AssocIsDangerous could not be located in the dynamic link library SHLWAPI.dll. OK followed by a message saying: The logon user interface DLL msgina.dll failed to load. Contact your system administrator to replace the DLL, or restore the original DLL. _________ |Restart| --------- I've tried all i can, the revert to last working setting, booting in safe mode, EVERYTHING. at this point all i care to do is back-up my files and re-install windows. The problem is backing up my files. does anybody have an idea as to how i can access my C drive then copy it using either USB or Firewire to my external drive? all feedback is HIGHLY appreciated.
