  1. Okay I understand. Thanks for the great information.
  2. That is a good way and easier way of doing things.... though curious, will it also do settings in other applications as well? As if I set McAfee to have it update and do a scan at a particular time and day. Will those settings also transfer from the computer I setup originally to the target machine?
  3. Is there a way where you can automate the settings for a new user when they log into the machine for the first time? Such as when a new user logs in it will set up settings such as use classic start menu, set IE home page and other settings in windows by chance or could I do it in Microsoft Deployment and through scripts?
  4. So I've programmed OCT to chain the install of Office, Project, and Visio with the keys and all to the point where all I have to do is insert the dvd into the computer and I don't have to do anything else. In Windows XP that is. The problem now I face is that testing the same dvd in Vista will only allow me to install Office and the chain never finishes installing the other software. Is there something in Vista setup so that I can't do this or is it an argument maybe that I am using in OCT? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Zac
  5. Well after reinstalling the server software I was able to get all the programs chained and install correctly. Now the problem I have is that when testing this setup in Vista, I'm only getting Office to install and not Project and Visio. Would anyone know off hand what is configure in Vista to prevent my disc from working?
  6. Okay after reading for about 2 weeks and everything I can about the OCT tool, I'm just about to give up. I had everything working where it was installing Office 07 from a dvd I created with all the serials and everything. It would upgrade the existing setup if there was a previous version and then install the updates and then project and visio. My boss asked if I could exclude infopath which I replied I could. From making that one change I haven't been able to chain any of the products anymore. I primarily used the OCT tool to chain everything. Office would chain to Project, and Project to Visio. The command line argument I used at the time would direct the install to go to the PrjPro.WW folder and use the config.xml. From there, I had nothing in the .xml files... it would read the .msp files for the info and would read that after install to run Visio installer. But I can't get anything to chain in any subsequent dvd I burned. It there a command or anything I should double check? Any help would be great. Thanks. Zac
