We are using a SuperMicro server 6014H-i2 (with SuperServer Motherboard X6DHR-IG2 , OS is Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1) where an Adaptec Embedded Serial ATA HostRaid Controller is being used. We are implementing a RAID 1 configuration, Sata Port #0 and Sata Port #1 are connected to 2 WDC 250 GB Hdds and were working perfectly for the last 2 yrs, Today we have received an error saying. Adaptec Embedded Sata Host Raid Bios v2.1 1 2209 Press CTRL + A for Adaptec Raid config Utility Controller Host Raid at pci bus dev:if fun:02 waiting for controller to start. Controller Started Port 0: wdc 2500jd 22hbb0 08.02d0B232.88 GB Smart Failed Port 1: 232.88 GB Smart Healthy Warning! The Disk monitor system has detected that the following drive are operating outside of normal specification. It is advisable to immediately back up your data and replace your hard disk drive. If I press <Enter> in this point, Bios installed successfully. I have used Array Configuration Utility, and the results are as follows- I have tried rebuilding the array- and after 2 hrs, it successfully rebuild the array, but again the same error appears after the reboot. So, I suspect that the issue is from the port 0: hdd (even though it is working perfectly as a standalone hdd) We tried replacing the port:0 hdd with a new HDD of the same specification, but then when we tried rebuild, we are getting ‘Missing Member’, I have tried re-initializing the new HDD from the Array Configuration Utility, but then when I press Yes/No, it is simply exiting without initializing it. 1. Can you please give a help for solving our issue, I would like to rebuild the RAID 1, while preserving everything in Port 1 Hdd, and connecting a new Hdd to Port 0. 2. Do I need a format for the new Sata Disk? 3. What is the procedure to build the RAID 1 again with a new HDD on Port 0, and preserving all the data in Port 1? 4. What is the Adaptec Raid Controller used in SuperMicro Server 6014h-i2? Thanks, Geologic
