i have spoken to people who are using midi hardware with windows xp pro or home edition and everything is fine for them i am gonna buy windows xp professional OEM, transfer all my stuff onto an external hard drive, then install it, then put everything back onto my laptop. sounds like the only way around it??

Hi there, I currently have Windows XP Media Center Edition but want to convert it to Windows XP Professional. Is this possible to do without spending much money? I need to do this in order for MIDI hardware to work with my laptop as for some reason Windows XP MCE does not recognise MIDI hardware devices. Many thanks, Bob D
