  1. are there any options to ignore bad sectors in partition magic 8? or am I going to have to go get norton ghost? if so, which settings do I go to to bypass the bad sectors? thanks again.
  2. I've already bought the drive though and its a maxtor not a seagate. The maxtor utility doesnt run ...for some odd reason so its partition magic Im left with. I need to find a way for it to copy the drive even if the bad sectors exist. If anyone here can help me out on say getting rid of the sectors or just keeping the copy going I'd really appreciate it.
  3. Hey I solved the problem, it was the fact it was already partitioned. I deleted the Sata partition and copied the partition and it began to work. BUT!! Another problem has arisen 49 percent into the partition copy I got an error: (122) A Bad sector was found in the current or new partition Since the sata is brand spanking new, and I think my original drive might be dying (hence the need to back up) I can pretty much assume its the c: drive with the bad sector. The thing is I'm a complete noob when it comes to these things, so can anyone recommend a course of action? is there a way to possibly bypass the bad sector then deal with the consequences later? thanks peeps
  4. ***** you Cram* ****shakes fist***.... I'm having issues with cloning my drive using Copy partition in Partition magic 8. I have a c: IDE which I want to clone onto my new 120gb SATA. the problem is when It gets to the rebooting part it returns the error Batch(1611) Bad system filename, file 9(48) which is lameage. And the amount of information on solutions for this is very limited ..(usually ending in .."use chkdsk then retry") But chkdsk is useless it doesnt report any errors. Anyone got any suggestions? could it be because the SATA is already partitioned? ...should I delete the sata partition and try again???
  5. Hello there, Recently my pc crashed and xp was corrupted, luckily i managed to repair and restore my pc to a recently saved restore point but the cause was the fact that my main hard drive is dying. If it has a vital crash again I'll lose all my configuration settings and Ill have to reformat and install almost everything again. This will take a long time but there is an easier way so I've read. As a replacement for my Western digital IDE 40gb I bought a a Maxtor 120gb SATA drive. Using PARTITION MAGIC 8 I formatted and partitioned the drive as one big partition. Because my WD is my C: with XP on, how do i go about making an exact replica of this drive on my SATA so that I can just get rid of the WD and leave the SATA running things like the WD left it? Thanks in advance and please be clear in your replies, I am a total dumbass and I'm really in a panic here. again ...god bless u **EDIT** After attempting the copy of the C: partition to my SATA Drive, it needed to boot to complete the copying. I got this error: Batch(1611) Bad system filename, file 9(48) This apparantly occurs sometimes if CHKDSK hasn't been run and the drive has bad sectors? This is the only obstacle to overcome. Once I have the partition copied I can remove the WD and boot fromthe SATA....grrrrr Please help I've got a uni final year project to do and im running out of time
