All right, thanks. Installed both, but this didn't fix the above-noted problem, contrary to someone's post about it as a fix for it on another board. (I thought so) Edited to add: Codecs from x64 WMP:

On the VCP homepage: http://www.jtow.net/users/triess/ ...are two versions: 4.5.0 (VCP) and 1.3.0 (Vista Codec x64 Components) I have Ultimate x64; the question is do I need VCP 4.5.0 and the 1.3.0 x64 components as well, or just the x64 components, or what? Not clear what should be installed for a x64 machine with Ultimate x64 OS. And another question is how do you remove (uninstall) the current codecs I have now before I install VCP? I am attempting to fix this problem exhibited here: Below is normal, from WMV file. This is from an MPG file. Not normal. The circled are MS default dreamscene files and these are MPG files.
