  1. applications' volume can be set in the mixer, but will restore to default on next run. Which component caused this?

    and I am also wondering does the network and sharing center need .net support?

  2. Removed the player and kept codec, all files playing well except the media embedded in web. I found the activex control was no longer there and Kmplayer counldn't open mms link any more.

    I have searched for a windows media pack for vista but got nothing, how can I get it back?

    ==========Post 2 [Merged]==========

    I've tried to restore and register some WMP files( msdxm.ocx, wmp.dll, wmpdxm.dll...), but it still didn't work. Seems there are differences with the XP version.

    Can nuhi tell which files have been removed so that I could get them back from the orignal image.

    ==========Post 3 [Merged]==========

    a little progress

    the size of msdxm.ocx is only 4KB compared with XP version 800+KB

    and when register the file, no active control is added into registry.

    After using the XP version instead, the media can be played now but no context menu to use.

    Of course the API has changed, and the Vista version calls another dll.

    Anyone could supply more information?

    Thanks a lot.
