Using dell 1.6 cpu, 1gb RAM, 80gb harddrive using gpart live I have Particianed 40/35gb of single hardrive into 2 seperate drives each with a dos multiboot system and install of XP. c:/ is used for all main usage with avast home protection and a range of processor greedy music production programs (Ableton, Reason, Sonar and and Cubase, and a range of greedy VSTI plugins), visual editing software (Avid pro and Adobe Premiere Pro, although understand system is strugglin with this due to performance issues. d:/ is used purley for live performance with Ableton, consisting off playing various mp3/wav files simultaniosly. Using Resolume VJ-Video program for playing various pre-edited video formats/clips live and simultaniously. To lighten the load with c: main system (used mostly for editing and producing sound and visual files) I have an external usb Edirol 10 in 10 out soundcard and a external 150gb drive. Question? Should page file on both OS systems be identical? At the moment have both drives (c: main - d: live performance) set to 700mb min - 700mb max. does this conflict when using different OS? Have already using system mechanic pro 7 done full diag and set both os systems with maximum perforamnce and as directed by Edirol/Roland (soundcard manufacturer) set :systemproperties/performance/processor Scheduling to background services with both os systems. Is this the best option? Through various searches I have found that conflicting reports/suggestions/advice seem to be regular. I understand the best resoulve to performance issues would be an upgrade, but at present this is not an option. If anyone can help with suggestion/advice/direction I will be forever in your debt. The embarrassment of a live performance of either DJ or VJ set going tits up at the worst possible moment has increasingly caused me issues and has caused reputation and career opportunities to suffer. Plus its a total pain in the a** having to explain to people that the music or visuals has stopped half way through the night becuase I need to reset the laptop of defrag memory.
