I had this same problem with what looks like the same list of updates. I checked the error log for the Office installation and found it had stopped at the installer. I downloaded and installed Microsoft Installer v3.1 and I was able to continue the installation of Office 2003. The reference on the Microsoft Support site is KB893803. Hope this helps !
