  1. This thread can be closed now. After some more time I realized that restoring a backup image from 30th December and installing/re-copying the missing items was much easier than messing around with System Restore to address the problem.
  2. Hello dear MSFN community, I have some older programs (e.g. Delphi-based programs, dug up NotepadEx as an example) which are simple user applications that definitely do not need any admin privileges to run normally (BTW I can't really imagine that nLite also does), which Vista marks as such anyway (with the Windows shield overlay). How do you manage to run those on a non-administrator account without invoking UAC? I don't talk about that I want to disable UAC in any way, I want only Vista to realize that those programs should run like every other program in the user's context. Thanks, tageule
  3. Hello, I have been working on this for hours, but I didn't a real solution yet. The problem is that popup menus (except from Mozilla's or GTK+ based programs, which show a menu of their own) show up in such a way that the menu is always right-aligned to the menu point it was opened from, even when there is enough space that it could unfold to the right side. As I have been used to left-aligned menus for about 14 years, this is very annoying. Example screenshot 1 Example screenshot 2 I already figured out that (re)setting the registry key HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop\MenuDropAlignment helped others restoring the usual behavior, but this one didn't exist and manually setting to "0" didn't help either. Any configuration tools I used so far also changed just the value of MenuDropAlignment according to Process Monitor. The problem seems to be connected to my user account because it doesn't happen on other ones. Does some have some useful tips so I don't have to do a complicated transfer to a new account? TIA, tageule Ref.: I already asked about this here (in German).
