OK, well I didn't find a resolution looking at 745s but I found a reference to a similar problem with another Dell. Turns out that multiple drivers with identical device names are to blame. So the kludge is to remove the other driver (or all drivers). The fix is to have a single driver that works for both systems... not sure if this is practicable. I know nothing of writing drivers. Will have to check out dell site. Unless anyone knows a simple way i can augment the device drivers, or a good place to look for drivers that will do both I guess this topic is finished.

Hi, I am using PE Builder to create boot disks for deploying our SOE. As the hardware available changes I add drivers to the SOE and PE, but I am having trouble with the first Dell Optiplex 745 we have purchased. Although I added the network divers to a subfolder in the net folder (as has worked for all other hardware) when I boot into BartPE and run the network configurator I get the error: unable to install network adapters I have tried downloading the drivers from dell again, and I have placed the dirvers at: C:\Program Files\pebuilder3110a\drivers\Net\dell745\ Has anyone seen this before? Any help would be appreciated. Rhys Background on me: I have been using PE Builder to create BartPE disks for almost a year, but this is not a daily task for me. I have no formal IT training - self taught and on the job learning.
