hello! my name's mike, but on the 'net i go by Horizon Earth. what actually brought me here was a problem installing xp onto a new emachines W3609 with a sata 2 hard drive. it will get to a point where install just stops and says that it doesn't see a disk. it does see my cd media, so it has to be the hdd it's not seeing. the install cd even has bashrat's driverpacks installed, so i know the drivers SHOULD be there. anyway... that's what initially brought me here. but of course once you get to a community and look around, see what all is there.... anyway, i belong to a couple other boards, and am presently a moderator on one of them. i just hope that i will fit in and prove to be a productive member here. i get into music, mostly classic rock [though i hate that term...], but anything with a good guitar lick. started on computers with a leading edge 486dx2 and windows 3.11. great to be here and if there's anything i can do for you please feel free to holla. i look forward to seeing you on the board! mike

perfect disk is an excellent choice, i used that for some time with win 2000, xp and server 2003. presently i'm using ultimate defrag by disktrix. no installation, you can even keep it on yer usb jump drive and run it from there. excellent tool... http://www.disktrix.com/UDIntroduction.htm mike
