Hello all, I am trying to install XP Pro on a new motherboard (Asus P5B-VM) w/Intel P4 3.4 CPU. I used RyanVM's Integrator and nLite to create an install CD that includes SP2, some critical updates, and the Asus drivers. Everything seems fine until the 35-minute mark, when the install process is Installing Devices. It gets about halfway through and then the monitor goes dark and everything shuts down except the power and the CPU fan. I've left it in this state for as long as an hour, and it doesn't restart. If I manually reboot, the installation restarts but then shuts off again at the same point. Same behavior occurs when I try installing with the original XP install CD. Interestingly, with Windows 2000, the installation process hangs at the same point, but the monitor stays on, and after 5-10 minutes of runnint some sequence over and over, the process resumes and the installation completes successfully. BTW, the same CDs will install XP Pro and Win2k on my old motherboard and on VirtualPC without this behavior. I checked the logs, and setuperr.log is empty. The last log written to is setupapi.log.
